"Leaving" the studio...
Producer 2pillz (real name Pham Phu Nguyen) has just released his debut album Pillzcasso, which includes 14 completely new songs, combining with popular names such as Van Mai Huong, Orange, tlinh, Mono, Grey D... 2pillz said that the title of the album is a combination of his stage name and the famous painter Pablo Picasso, with the expectation that the album will clearly show his personal color. The special thing about the album is that 2pillz has mixed many genres, from trends such as house, afrobeats with vibrant rhythms to bossa nova, bolero, ballad... slow with Vietnamese instruments such as lithophone, t'rung... The producer born in 1998 revealed that he wanted to create a "Vinafro" genre combining "afrobeats" and "vina" with the same vitality as vinahouse that had attracted attention before.

With his debut album, 2pillz also invested in making a video recording the entire performance at Vinh Hy Bay and Nui Chua National Park (Khanh Hoa). The elaborate filming scenes clearly show his free spirit, creativity, and ability to control the frame when performing as a true solo artist. This can be considered a model for a new generation of independent producers who express their own products, compared to the previous generation who often left the performance to singers.
Not long ago, singer Hong Nhung also made a strong comeback after a health incident with the project Tu cau in collaboration with a young team, including producer Lope Pham born in 2000 - the person behind many hits by rapper MCK. Hong Nhung said that after listening to the demo, she really liked it and adjusted the song with Lope Pham in 5 days to suit her story. During the production process, Lope Pham suggested inviting Trung Tran - a potential young artist to the product, and in the end, the two had an extremely impressive musical dialogue. The support and being named as the artist performing with Hong Nhung showed the increasingly important position of producers.
In Hoang Dung's recently released second album titled Xoay Tron , it is not difficult to see the special role of the two producers Pixel Neko and Lelarec in many songs. It is even more special when the names of these producers are shown as the performers along with the main vocalist - something that was very rare before. Pixel Neko shared: "Hoang Dung really respects the creativity of the producers, giving them space to express themselves, to "play" with music... For me, this project is no longer a job, but I have many ideas and am truly creative". This shows a clear change in the way the role and position of producers are recognized today.
...to become omnipotent
Sharing with Thanh Nien , 2pillz said that he wants to move towards the image of an all-around producer. He said: "In the new album, 2pillz wrote the demo and lyrics - the previous part was mainly handled by musicians. Not stopping there, he also participated in singing. Although it is just small accents to help enrich the mix and not the main vocal, but over time, 2pillz will improve and learn more. Collaborating with many famous singers also brings many valuable lessons." Before 2pillz, Khac Hung, Mew Amazing... also followed this direction and reaped no small success.

It can be said that from the position of following the "orders" of singers and musicians, now the new generation of producers have created their own mark. With 2pillz, he was the one who came up with the idea of "Vinafro" and invited the artists to participate, not the other way around like the traditional way. Sharing more about his artistic perspective, 2pillz said: "2pillz's music can be summarized in 3 words: "bouncing" (making listeners sway), "pretty" (helping listeners feel confident and want to express themselves), and "emotional" (always full of emotions despite the fast tempo)".
More and more young artists are taking on multiple roles, from composing, arranging to performing. Names like Trang, Tung, My Anh, Nan, antransax... have helped the singer - songwriter - producer model become familiar to music lovers.
In addition to the above factors, in the products that producers collaborate with artists, the respect that collaborators have for each other is also increasingly evident. Sharing about this, musician Bui Cong Nam hopes that artists "respect the people behind the scenes by actions such as the full name of the crew. These are the people who help artists have the "land" to show their abilities and convey their musical personality, so please show respect to them". He also added: "The work of both musicians and producers is extremely important, not inferior to that of performers and recorders".
It can be seen that whether it comes from the artist's awareness in showing gratitude to the crew, the growth of the all-around artist model or the way to build the image of a new generation of producers, producers are becoming more and more known, thereby creating a vibrant, diverse and civilized Vietnamese music market.
