HAGL vs Becamex TP.HCM performance
Last season saw the ups and downs of both HAGL and Becamex TP.HCM. After 26 rounds, both teams ended up in the bottom half of the rankings. While the team from the Mountain City ranked 9th with 29 points, the club from the city named after Uncle Ho ranked just below with 1 point less.
Entering this season, the preparations of both sides have shown different signs. HAGL promises to face many challenges due to the talent drain problem.
A series of key players who helped them stay in the league such as Quang Nho, Bao Toan, Ngoc Quang, Minh Vuong, Ly Duc... have all left to find new destinations.
To fill the huge void left behind, the Pleiku home team can only put their trust in young faces who have not yet made many strong impressions in the V.League.
The lackluster preparation of the mountain town team made it easy for them to be included in the list of strong candidates competing to avoid relegation.
In fact, with a squad of less-known players, HAGL lost quite easily 1-3 to rookie Ninh Binh in a friendly match that took place at the end of July. Therefore, the worried eyes directed at coach Le Quang Trai and his team are understandable.
For its part, Becamex TP.HCM also experienced an equally strong mark of turmoil. In addition to changing its name to Becamex TP.HCM (formerly Becamex Binh Duong ), the Go Dau Stadium team also said goodbye to a series of faces who had been with the team for many years such as Tien Linh, Que Ngoc Hai, Duc Chinh, Trong Huy, Duy Khanh, Thien Duc, Janclesio...
In the opposite direction, the team from the land of Thu recruited a total of 8 new players to replace them. Most notably, the presence of Hugo Alves, a striker who previously played in the Portuguese Third Division.
Despite major personnel changes, coach Nguyen Anh Duc and his team still have to shoulder the task of finishing in the top 3. This is considered a huge responsibility for a strategist who does not have much experience in a harsh arena like V.League.
Even when comparing the current force, Becamex TP.HCM is still hard to catch up with giants like Nam Dinh , CAHN, The Cong, Hanoi FC or even rookie Ninh Binh. But at least in the opening match, the chance of Anh Duc and his team gaining points is not small.
