Leaders of the Veterans Association of Hoang Hoa district and Hoang Dat commune at the new house of member Dinh The Than.
One day at the end of May, we followed the cadres of the Association of War Veterans of Hoang Hoa district to visit the newly built "CVD affection" house for member Dinh The Than, Tru Ninh village, Hoang Dat commune. On the day the house was handed over to CCB Dinh The Than, the whole Tru Ninh village was filled with joy. Many years ago, the small house of CCB Dinh The Than had to struggle against the rain, sun, and time. Due to the consequences of war, Mr. Than was often sick, and his old age made building a house impossible for him. With the support of the Association of War Veterans of Hoang Hoa district with 80 million VND, along with support from relatives and labor support from the villagers, the "CVD affection" house was handed over to CCB Dinh The Than. Words are not enough for him to express his gratitude to the cadres, members of the Association of War Veterans in the district, in the commune, and the neighbors who helped him build the house worth 250 million VND. Unable to hide his emotion, veteran Dinh The Than shared: “If it were not for the new construction, I would have lived in a dilapidated house all my life. It is true that only in times of difficulty can we truly see the true meaning of comradeship.”
Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Hoang Hoa district, Dang Manh Hung, said: “In the period of 2019-2024, with the efforts of all levels of the Association of War Veterans and the generosity of benefactors, the Association of War Veterans of Hoang Hoa district has built and repaired 39 houses for members. Of which, cadres and members contributed to building and repairing 27 houses, Delta Sports Equipment Joint Stock Company supported the construction of 3 houses, Truong Son Traditional Association coordinated with the Association of War Veterans of the district to build 1 house, Ho Chi Minh City Association of War Veterans supported 5 houses; Dien Ban Town Association of War Veterans (Quang Nam) supported the construction of 1 house. This is a movement with profound humanitarian significance, leaving a good impression on cadres, members and the whole society. It is difficult to describe the joy and happiness of poor families of war veterans when they live in new houses filled with warm comradeship”.
To make a breakthrough in "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for families of war veterans facing housing difficulties", the War Veterans Association at all levels in Thieu Hoa district surveyed all families of members in difficult circumstances who have not received support from the State and local authorities to help. At the same time, mobilize members to contribute to building a fund to build houses for poor members. In addition to mobilizing members to contribute, the War Veterans Association at all levels also called on businesses and philanthropists to help with funding, materials, working days... to repair and build new houses for members. Over the past 5 years, the War Veterans Association at all levels in Thieu Hoa district has mobilized more than 900 working days and nearly 1.2 billion VND to renovate and repair 39 houses for members. Although the material support is not much, what is more important is the spirit of mutual love and support among cadres and members that is shared and expanded, helping poor families have stable housing, peace of mind to work and produce, and rise up in life.
For many years, the construction of houses for poor war veterans has been implemented by the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province. However, the number is not much due to dependence on funding from companies, businesses and philanthropists. With the determination not to let poor members live in temporary and dilapidated houses, and at the same time demonstrating the proactive spirit of the Association at all levels, the Provincial War Veterans Association has chosen "Eliminating dilapidated houses for families of war veterans with housing difficulties" as a breakthrough to implement effectively. Accordingly, each cadre and war veteran member will contribute 24,000 VND/year, those who have the conditions will support more to build the fund. With a large number of members and the active and responsible participation of the Association at all levels, in the period of 2019-2024, the whole province has renovated and repaired 486 houses with a support amount of more than 23 billion VND and nearly 30,000 working days from the members. Since 2024, in response to the campaign to support housing construction for poor households, near-poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties according to Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Provincial Veterans Association has increased the support level for house building from 50 million VND to 80 million VND/house, helping many families reduce difficulties in life.
The "CCB's Affectionate Houses" not only help poor CCB members settle down and improve their lives, but also affirm the positive role of CCB officials and members in poverty alleviation, caring for the lives of members, contributing together with authorities and organizations at all levels to achieve the goal of ensuring social security and developing the local economy and society. Through review, the whole province still has many CCB members who need support to build houses. To help members have stable housing, the CCB Association at all levels in the province continues to play a core role in propaganda and mobilization work, and calls on companies, businesses, and philanthropists to actively contribute and support, creating a strong influence to multiply beautiful actions for comrades.
