Replicating the model of using remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides

Việt NamViệt Nam03/05/2024

In recent production seasons, the province has built a model of using remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides on rice. The effectiveness of using remote-controlled aircraft in the fields has been confirmed. Currently, localities are expanding the model of using remote-controlled aircraft to help gradually close the mechanization of production stages.

Through research, it is known that in order to prepare for the peak period of pest and disease control for spring rice during the flowering period (late April, early May), many localities have contacted businesses and owners of remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides for production areas in the area. Thi Son Agricultural Service Cooperative (Kim Bang) has a spring rice cultivation area of 300 hectares. Basically, the entire area was contracted by the cooperative with Loc Troi Joint Stock Company to spray pesticides for pests and diseases using remote-controlled aircraft. It is known that this crop, the rice area using remote-controlled aircraft will increase by 100 hectares compared to the previous crop and 15 times higher than the first crop 3 years ago when the model was first built.

Mr. Pham Van Ho, Deputy Director of Thi Son Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: Through the production seasons, people have trusted in the effectiveness of remote-controlled aircraft spraying pesticides. In the program to expand the spring crop model, the Board of Directors of the Cooperative has allocated the production development fund to support the entire spraying cost (equivalent to 20,000 VND/sao), people only have to spend money to buy pesticides.

Along with Thi Son, many localities in Kim Bang district and the province are promoting the application of spraying pesticides on rice using remote-controlled aircraft. Hoang Tay Agricultural Service Cooperative (Kim Bang) built the model from the spring crop of 2023. This spring crop, the Board of Directors of Hoang Tay Agricultural Service Cooperative continued to sign a contract with a service unit to organize spraying of pests and diseases for more than 50% of the total area of nearly 240 hectares of rice in the area.

At Nhan Phuc Agricultural Cooperative (Phu Phuc Commune - Ly Nhan), in the spring crop of 2024, the Agricultural Extension Center (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) has built a synchronous mechanization model on an area of 20 hectares using land preparation machines, transplanters, remote-controlled aircraft to spray fertilizers, pesticides and harvest by machine. Nhan Phuc Agricultural Cooperative is organizing the use of remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides and diseases for nearly 200 hectares of rice planted by local machines.

According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Phu, Director of Nhan Phuc Agricultural Cooperative, when implementing the synchronized mechanization model, remote-controlled aircraft were used to spray fertilizers right at the beginning of the crop and were responsible for spraying pesticides to prevent pests and diseases throughout the crop. From this model, the Cooperative is determined to deploy, propagate and mobilize people to expand the area of using remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides for the entire area of planting machines to ensure the same variety, same tea...

Models using remote-controlled aircraft have all proven to be effective. Using remote-controlled aircraft and propeller systems helps the chemicals to adhere evenly to the rice plants, minimizing the chemicals falling into the fields, improving the effectiveness of pest control. The productivity of the machine is high, many times higher than that of manual spraying. Pest and disease control in the fields is carried out simultaneously, no longer the situation of households spraying at different times. The cost of spraying pesticides using remote-controlled aircraft is low, only about 50% compared to manual spraying. Pesticide management is also better because the source of pesticides and types used are controlled through contracts signed with service providers. Another advantage is that during use, all pesticide packaging is collected and treated as hazardous waste, helping to protect the environment of the fields...

Discussing the expansion of the model of using remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides, Mr. Nguyen Van Cua, Director of the Agricultural Extension Center, said: The effectiveness of applying mechanization to spraying pesticides has been proven. The rice area using remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides has expanded in both scale and area over the seasons. The Center is actively implementing a model of bringing synchronous mechanization to the fields, including the use of remote-controlled aircraft...

The province’s two-crop rice production is currently developing in a commodity direction. Localities plan and arrange production on fields with the same variety, same tea, and same care process. The expansion of machine-transplanted rice areas helps concentrate production on the fields… This is a favorable condition for applying and promoting the effectiveness of using remote-controlled aircraft to spray pesticides.
