The Embassy of Japan in Hanoi and the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will issue electronic visas (e-visas) to Vietnamese tourist groups from November 1.
The announcement was posted on the official website of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam. Accordingly, the issuance of e-visas will begin after the preparation work is completed, from the designated travel companies on the list to organize package tours.
The e-visa is issued to simplify the visa issuance process and time, facilitating the exchange, travel and work of people from both countries. The applicable visa type is a short-term visa with a single entry for tourism purposes within 15 days.
The Embassy of Japan in Vietnam notes that this visa is only applicable to Vietnamese passport holders residing in Vietnam.

Visa applicants must present at the airport a “Visa issuance notice” displayed on their mobile phone screen connected to the internet. PDF files, screenshots or printed hard copies are not accepted.
When passengers check in at the airport, the “Visa Issuance Notice” must be displayed on the screen of their mobile phones, iPads, etc. The “Visa Issuance Notice” screen will display a countdown timer on the upper right. This is proof of the validity of the Visa Issuance Notice.
The user receives the “Visa Issuance Notice” in PDF format from the Visa Application Mission, scans the QR code and displays the “Visa Issuance Notice”. At this point, the e-visa issuance process is complete.
