During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Technical Reconnaissance Team had the task of collecting information, detecting the enemy's espionage and commando plots and tricks, conducting "diversions" to deceive the enemy; ensuring the safety of the front command post; participating in the investigation, conclusion and exoneration of our officers and soldiers who were captured by the enemy, accused of being spies, reactionaries... Working silently, regardless of space and time, upon receiving orders, the technical reconnaissance soldiers immediately set off.

The unit's silent but extremely glorious achievements during this period were working with other forces to absolutely protect the body of President Ho Chi Minh; discovering the "air raid plan" of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to rescue American prisoners of war at the Son Tay town prison camp (Ha Tay) in late 1970; building a fake command post to deceive the enemy during the Quang Tri Campaign in 1972; implementing technical measures to ensure the safety of Cuban President Fidel Castro visiting Quang Tri in 1973 and the military delegation of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam in the Four-Party Joint Military Commission; researching, designing, and installing the entire system of technical protection equipment during the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum...

Entering the new era, promoting the glorious tradition, the Technical Reconnaissance Group always adheres to the tasks and instructions of the superiors, carries out tens of thousands of professional requests, promptly advises and proposes to all levels measures to prevent, combat, and stop internal sabotage and infiltration activities. Actively coordinates with units of the Military Security Protection Department, professional units of the Ministry of Public Security, local police and specialized agencies in charge of national security protection in the Army. Does a good job of grasping the situation of criminal activities, helping agencies and units deploy the work of fighting and prosecuting subjects before the law.

In the investigation and fight against all kinds of crimes, the Technical Reconnaissance Team, in coordination with the Border Guard's functional forces, has successfully broken many special cases of drug trafficking and illegal transportation, and illegal immigration. In addition, the Team also coordinates with functional forces to organize crime scene examinations, examine traces, documents, and physical evidence, as a basis to consolidate evidence to serve the investigation, conclusion, and handling of cases and incidents quickly, accurately, objectively, and in accordance with the law.

Faced with the requirements of security protection in the new situation, in order to successfully complete the assigned tasks, the Technical Reconnaissance Group has implemented synchronous solutions. In particular, it focuses on improving the quality of training, proficiently operating technical equipment to ensure comprehensive and specialized assurance, focusing on technical training as the basis and tactics as the focus. The tasks of the Technical Reconnaissance Group are very important tasks, requiring the staff to have a steadfast and steady political stance and proficient professional skills.

Therefore, the selection, training and development are carried out very closely and scientifically by the unit. The Party Committee and the commander of the Union regularly grasp the internal political situation, review, detect and report to superiors to send cadres and employees to study at schools and professional units inside and outside the Army to improve their professional qualifications and meet the requirements of assigned tasks. Currently, over 90% of the Union's cadres and employees have university and postgraduate degrees.

When implementing requirements and tasks, the Party Committee and the Union commander always discuss and agree, assign tasks according to their expertise and strengths, and assign competent and experienced comrades to take charge; each department and individual must have a firm grasp of the enemy's plots, methods, and tricks of operation and all types of objects, skillfully use professional means and measures, strictly comply with the professional principles of the industry, and be ready to receive and successfully complete all assigned tasks.

With its outstanding achievements, the Technical Reconnaissance Group was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; Third-class Military Exploit Medal and many other noble awards. On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of its tradition (June 19, 1968 / June 19, 2023), the Group was awarded the Third-class Fatherland Protection Medal. This is a great honor and motivation for the officers, employees and soldiers of the Technical Reconnaissance Group to excellently complete their assigned tasks in the coming time.
