This evening, the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense held a meeting with news agencies and press to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

Speaking here, General Phan Van Giang reviewed the history of Vietnamese revolutionary press in general and military press in particular.

"For us, in war, it is guns, bullets, and destroying the enemy. And you comrades with cameras, camcorders, pens, and brushes also volunteered to go to the front..." - The Minister emphasized the role of the "special force" of the press in the nation's resistance wars.

According to the Minister, press agencies have published and broadcast many news and articles reflecting the contributions of military officers and soldiers, militia and self-defense forces participating in training and practicing the parade at the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day... This directly contributes to promoting, protecting and enhancing the image, prestige and position of the Army, spreading the qualities, values and fine traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

The Minister recalled the image of the Vietnamese Army participating in the parade for the first time on Red Square in Russia, the soldiers singing the song Kachiusa, or the friendly army singing "As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day" when participating in the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the Minister, these emotional images were vividly conveyed by the press.

The country is preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. This occasion also marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army. The Minister said that he will invite a number of friendly countries to participate in the parade. Although the number is not large, it will be a mark affirming that Vietnam is a country respected and admired by friends around the world.

In addition, he also said that for the first time, there will be maritime forces participating in the parade, including: Navy, Coast Guard, Fisheries Surveillance, Naval Air Force...

The Minister hopes that the press will continue to convey the message "Vietnam consistently follows an independent and self-reliant foreign policy and a 'four no' defense policy, building a modern army to protect people's lives and territorial integrity" so that people in the country and peace-loving friends around the world can better understand.

The defense economic groups focus on political tasks to work with the people to protect borders, landmarks and territorial integrity. In the defense industry, special attention is paid to the policy of "self-reliance, self-reliance, self-strengthening, dual-use and modernity" to build a strong, compact and elite army.

The Minister stated that from 2025, it is determined to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern army; to abandon "step by step", surpassing the 5-year target set by the 13th Congress.

Explaining this goal, General Phan Van Giang said: "We have all the basic conditions to move straight to modernity...".
