Many solutions to connect agricultural product consumption

Son La currently has more than 85,000 hectares of fruit trees and hawthorn, with an output of about 510,000 tons in 2025. The province is directing all levels and sectors to synchronously implement solutions to increase product value and promote connections to the consumption of agricultural products for the people.

Since the beginning of the year, the Steering Committee for Production, Processing, Consumption and Export of Agricultural Products in Son La Province (Steering Committee 598) has proactively coordinated to remove difficulties, promote production, processing and consumption of agricultural products for farmers, especially during the peak harvest season. Organized many working sessions at the grassroots level, implemented trade promotion programs, such as the Mega live session of the OCOP market to consume Phieng Khoai plums; promoted agricultural products through cultural events, put strawberries and plums on Vietnam Airlines flights and the supermarket systems of Saigon Co.op, BigC, WinCommerce. Actively participated in the Son La Plum and Agricultural Products Week in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; participated in 14 domestic and foreign fairs and exhibitions, expanding the consumption market. At the same time, applied technology, guided businesses to put products on e-commerce platforms and organized livestream skills training.

In addition, continue to direct localities and cooperatives to coordinate with businesses to maintain production, ensure raw material areas to supply vegetables and fruits to large processing factories such as Doveco, Nafoods, ICFood; support legal procedures related to growing areas, packaging facilities and international cooperation activities.

Mr. Vu Tien Dinh, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: To meet export standards, the Department has directed the close monitoring of growing area codes, coordinated with the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, and agencies of importing countries to inspect growing areas and packaging facilities when requested. At the same time, data on growing areas and packaging facilities is updated on the national system, and subjects are instructed to use electronic diaries on the farmdiary.online platform to manage raw material areas in real time. Currently, the whole province maintains 216 growing area codes, of which 211 codes serve exports, nearly 2,912 hectares; 16 codes serve domestic quality management and 8 codes for packaging facilities for mango, longan, passion fruit, macadamia products, etc.

Deep processing is identified as the key to increasing the value of agricultural products. The event of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (Doveco) inaugurated and put into operation the first paper canning line for vegetables and fruits with Swedish technology (Tetra Recart) in Vietnam located at the DOVECO Son La Vegetable and Fruit Processing Center.

Mr. Dinh Cao Khue, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company, said: The Tetra Recart production line with a capacity of 6,000 boxes/hour helps to prolong the preservation time, preserve the flavor and nutritional value, and meet the standards of demanding markets. Since the beginning of the year, the Center has purchased and processed 10,775 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits, including: 4,125 tons of mango; 4,000 tons of pineapple; 350 tons of passion fruit; 750 tons of sweet corn; 50 tons of soybeans and 1,500 tons of other vegetables.

In the past 7 months, the whole province has consumed over 277,100 tons of fruit products, reaching 54.4% of the yearly plan, earning over 2,896 billion VND. Some key fruits with large consumption output, such as plums over 100,000 tons, earning nearly 1,000 billion VND, of which 2.5 tons were exported to the EU; mangoes 94,312 tons, accounting for 94.3% of the yearly plan, earning over 570 billion VND; bananas 41,010 tons, earning over 160 billion VND; off-season longans in Song Ma reached 9,308 tons.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 598, said: Son La continues to promote the application of science and technology, develop specialized crops, improve product quality, promote links between farmers, businesses and scientists, towards green and sustainable agriculture. The focus is on harvesting and consuming main-season longan in a timely manner, strictly managing raw material areas and enhancing trade promotion.

With drastic direction, synchronous solutions on trade promotion, deep processing and quality management have helped increase the value of agricultural products; at the same time, opening up great opportunities for farmers and businesses of the province, bringing more Son La agricultural products to the international market.
