Specifically, in May, the supply and demand situation of agricultural products in the province fluctuated a lot compared to April. The average price of agricultural products such as spinach, tomatoes, beets, chili peppers, climbing beans, green onions, coron lettuce, chayote... all increased.
Specifically, the average price of spinach in May was 25,000 VND/kg, an increase of 6,750 VND/kg; tomatoes 14,000, an increase of 5,750 VND/kg; beets 5,600 VND/kg, an increase of 1,600 VND/kg; chili peppers 10,000 VND/kg, climbing beans 14,000 VND/kg, both increased by 1,500 VND/kg; green onions 8,200 VND/kg, an increase of 1,200 VND/kg; coron lettuce 6,800 VND/kg, an increase of 1,050 VND/kg; chayote 4,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to April 2024. Dalat bell peppers 27,600 VND/kg, a decrease of 2,400 VND/kg. The prices of some remaining vegetable and fruit products such as cabbage, Chinese cabbage, kohlrabi, broccoli, lettuce rolls, green lolo lettuce... are relatively stable compared to April 2024.
As for tomatoes, as of the morning of May 17, it was recorded that they were increasing very rapidly, 2-3 times higher than the same period last year. According to tomato growers in Don Duong, since the beginning of the year, prices have been constantly changing in an upward direction. From January to April, prices increased from 4,000 VND to 7,000 VND/kg. From April 29 until now, they have skyrocketed from 7,000 VND to 20,000 VND/kg and are currently nearly 30,000 VND/kg. And the retail price of tomatoes to consumers ranges from 35,000 to 40,000 VND/kg.

Local Rita tomato growers said that with about 3,500m2 equivalent to 10,000 tomato plants, the units signed contracts to purchase all of them at a price of over 500 million VND. After deducting costs, the families earned a net profit of about 400 million VND. Similarly, the price of Beef tomatoes has also increased continuously in recent days and is currently at a peak of 40,000 VND/kg. This type of tomato is mainly grown by people in high-tech greenhouses and this item is more premium when the main consumption channels are supermarkets, convenience stores or exports.
In Duc Trong district, Mr. Cong Manh (residing in Trung Hiep village, Hiep An commune) said: “Tomato prices have never been so high. Beef tomatoes are 40,000 VND/kg and for households growing VietGAP, GlobalGAP, they can reach an agreement price of up to 45,000 VND/kg. At this time last year, Beef tomatoes grown in greenhouses were only 5,000 - 7,000 VND/kg and gardeners only had enough capital to reproduce.
Currently, Don Duong district is the largest tomato growing area in Lam Dong province with about 900 hectares. In Don Duong, Duc Trong, Da Lat, Lam Ha districts, ... this crop year, people planted over 1,000 hectares.
The Agricultural Extension Center, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province informed that while the prices of many agricultural products increased, at the beginning of the rainy season (May 2024), the prices of some fertilizer products such as Phu My fertilizer, SA Nhat fertilizer, NPK fertilizer... decreased compared to previous months. The remaining fertilizers had relatively stable prices in the districts compared to April 2024.
