According to Duy Tan's representative, divestment from the traditional plastics sector is part of the overall restructuring strategy, aiming to focus resources on developing the circular economy through Duy Tan Recycling Plastic Joint Stock Company.
The deal between Duy Tan and SCG took place in the context of the plastics industry in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, being under great pressure to transform into a green and sustainable one.
Trade agreements such as the EVFTA or the EU's environmental policy under the European Green Deal require businesses to be transparent about their supply chains, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the use of recycled plastics in their products.
In the domestic market, Decree 08/2022/ND-CP has made it mandatory for businesses to implement extended producer responsibility (EPR), which includes the obligation to collect and recycle plastic packaging from 2024.
This further encourages domestic plastic enterprises to accelerate the transition to a circular production model.

On this foundation, Duy Tan Recycling aims to become one of the leading high-tech plastic recycling enterprises in Southeast Asia.
The company currently operates a "Bottle to Bottle" line - a technology that recycles plastic bottles into plastic bottles - which is considered one of the most advanced processes in the recycling industry today.
In addition, Duy Tan Recycling has completed its quality management system and achieved more than 20 international standards and certifications.
Notably, the company has met strict food safety standards issued by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
In 2023, Duy Tan Recycling also became the first recycling enterprise in Vietnam to be certified as a high-tech enterprise by the Ministry of Science and Technology , recognizing its methodical investment efforts in technological innovation and creative capacity in the recycling field.
Currently, Duy Tan Recycling's factory is operating with a designed capacity of 100,000 tons of recycled plastic per year.
During the period 2020 - 2024, the enterprise collected and recycled more than 80,000 tons of plastic waste, equivalent to about 6 billion PET bottles, contributing to significantly reducing the amount of plastic waste released into the environment and promoting the circular economic model in Vietnam.
Duy Tan Recycling's recycled plastic products are also supplied to many large domestic and export FMCG brands, showing a positive signal in the commercialization of internationally-standard recycled plastic.
