Ministry of Education and Training notes on training carefully for the optional exam of the high school graduation exam

At the inspection of the preparation for the 2025 high school graduation exam in Bac Giang , Mr. Huynh Van Chuong reminded the local exam steering committee to conduct thorough training in the spirit of clear people, clear work. Especially the arrangement of candidates for the optional exam, along with specific regulations to ensure convenience for candidates but safety, seriousness, and confidentiality of exam questions and papers.

Only 1 candidate can be in the exam room

At the Viet Yen High School exam site (Bac Giang), in the elective exam, there are subjects where only 1 candidate registered to take the exam. According to Mr. Chuong, depending on the actual conditions of the locality, it can be handled by combining exam rooms or transferring exam scores to candidates to facilitate the candidates and the organization.

In addition, the representative of the Department of Quality Management also noted that the examination sites should arrange spare examination rooms and waiting rooms for candidates, and arrange examination rooms scientifically and reasonably for both candidates studying the 2018 general education program and the 2006 general education program.

During a working session with the leaders of the Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee and the provincial exam steering committee, Minister Huynh Van Chuong emphasized that this year's exam takes place in the context of the whole country streamlining, rearranging administrative units, and merging provinces. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training requested that localities try to complete the review and issuance of high school graduation certificates to students before August 30 (the date of completion of the province merger) to create a stable mentality for candidates.

Up to this point, inspection teams of the Ministry of Education and Training have inspected exam preparation work in many localities, including inspections of facilities that print and copy exam papers. 2025 is the first year that exam papers will be transported via the Government Cipher Committee's transmission line. However, the preservation and printing of exam papers is still tightened with the participation of security agencies and 24/7 camera surveillance in the areas where exam papers are printed and stored.

Support students in exam preparation, mainly self-study guidance

Talking to teachers and students in Bac Giang during the final exam preparation days, the Director noted changes in the orientation of this year's exam questions aimed at developing students' abilities and qualities.

The literature exam will use materials other than textbooks. The multiple-choice exam will have more multiple-choice question formats than last year.

The exam will be differentiated appropriately to meet the graduation criteria and use the results for admission. The Director reminds candidates to pay attention to connecting knowledge with practice when reviewing.

"The results of this year's high school graduation exam will be a basis for evaluating the end of the first cycle of implementing the 2018 general education program," said Mr. Chuong.

He also reminded schools that when reviewing for students, they must still comply with regulations on extra teaching and learning, focusing on guiding students to self-study and self-review, paying attention to organizing reviews according to the classification of candidates' levels to have a review schedule and appropriate review content to help students overcome weaknesses and better grasp the basic content of the program.

"Soft gate" and detailed schedule for each exam session

In Bac Giang, there are initiatives in organizing graduation exams that can be more widely spread in other localities.

At each testing site in this province, a "soft gate" is set up behind the main gate. The soft gate is to remind candidates to bring illegal items into the testing room. This is a way to prevent and limit the situation where candidates accidentally bring illegal items, leading to disciplinary action.

Mr. Bach Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Giang, said that outside the examination room, within the 25-meter "corridor", everything is strictly controlled. Some examination sites also require the clearance of car parking areas next to the examination site to avoid the situation of information transmitting and receiving equipment operating.

Another initiative of Bac Giang is to issue a detailed roster for invigilators 1 and 2 for each exam session. Each exam session has a separate roster that is distributed directly to each invigilator. The tasks of each invigilator will be clearly stated in a specific time sequence.

After each task is completed, the supervisor must mark it to avoid missing tasks. Assignment boards are also posted in front of each exam room for candidates to understand.
