In addition to the common license plates used for personal cars and business vehicles, there are many special license plates circulating in Vietnam that not everyone knows about.

License plate has blue background and white letters

Blue background license plates are license plates of state administrative agencies; state power agencies; judicial and prosecution agencies; people's police forces; Party agencies; socio- political organizations.

Blue plate cars are vehicles used exclusively by government and non-profit organizations.

Blue plate cars are actually vehicles specifically used by government and non-profit organizations. Individuals who are allowed to drive blue plate cars on public roads are those who work for government agencies and public service organizations.

These plates use one of five letters: A, B, C, D, E.

License plate has red background and white letters

Red license plates are specified for cars, 2-wheeled motorbikes, 3-wheeled motorbikes, semi-trailers... managed by the Ministry of National Defense .

To distinguish vehicles of each unit from each other, the red license plates of military vehicles will have symbols that are specifically prescribed for each different military agency and unit.

Foreign license plate

Foreign license plates usually have a white background, black letters and numbers (sometimes red). License plates with the letters NG are the license plates of diplomatic missions, consular offices and foreign staff of those agencies.

License plates with the symbol "NN" are issued to vehicles of foreign organizations, representative offices and individuals; license plates with the symbol "CV" are issued to vehicles of administrative and technical staff carrying official identity cards of diplomatic missions, consular offices and international organizations; license plates with the symbol "QT" are issued to vehicles of representative offices of international organizations and foreign staff carrying diplomatic identity cards.

The license plate has a yellow background, red letters and numbers, with the local registration symbol and two letters abbreviating the special economic-commercial zone or international border gate economic zone, issued to vehicles of special economic-commercial zones or international border gate economic zones according to Government regulations.
