BHG - The 2025 high school graduation exam will apply the 2018 GeneralEducation Program for the first time with many innovations in regulations, forms and content. To help students confidently "pass the exam", high schools have implemented appropriate review plans, supplemented knowledge, stabilized mentality, and prepared for the exam to achieve high results.
This year's exam has many important changes, focusing on assessing students' abilities instead of assessing knowledge and skills like previous exams. The new exam regulations increase the proportion of high school transcript scores and require candidates to apply knowledge into practice. Accordingly, candidates will take two compulsory subjects: Literature and Mathematics, and two elective subjects from the subjects they are studying in grade 12 such as: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, and Information Technology. These changes not only affect the graduation assessment method but also require schools to develop more review plans, helping students proactively grasp knowledge and mindset to adapt to the new exam format.

In order to adapt to the innovations of the Exam, the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities has urgently implemented a review plan since the beginning of November 2024. This school year, the school has 489 grade 12 students, divided into 6 classes. The review is organized systematically in 2 review sessions with a total of 55 periods for Literature and Math, 40 periods for elective subjects. The school continuously updates new instructions from the Ministry and the Department of Education and Training (GD&DT) to adjust the review content to closely follow the exam orientation, helping students to have the best preparation.
Ms. Pham Thi Ha, Vice Principal of the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, said: Dividing the exam review into 2 sessions helps the school easily classify students, thereby building an effective review plan that is close to their abilities. Through the survey according to the plan of the Department of Education and Training, the school has classified students into 2 groups. Of which, the good and excellent group is trained by teachers to improve and practice with sample exam questions; the average group and students with limited abilities are focused on reviewing for the exam in the direction of consolidating knowledge and practicing test-taking skills. It is expected that at the end of May, the school will continue to organize mock exams to evaluate the results and help students prepare more firmly.

At Thong Nguyen High School (Hoang Su Phi), there is always an atmosphere of concentrated exam preparation. Students are reviewed by teachers for the 12th grade program, while proactively reviewing knowledge from grades 10 and 11 to consolidate their knowledge system and practice effective exam-solving skills. After summarizing the school year, based on the results of the learning process and participation in mock exams, the school directs teachers to actively differentiate students in depth to have appropriate support measures. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, Principal, affirmed: The school is determined to maintain professional discipline, fully implement the program according to regulations, not teach by rote, study lopsidedly, or cut the program. Subject teachers are directed to review according to the structure and sample questions of the Ministry of Education and Training to help students get familiar with the exam format and prepare thoroughly for the upcoming exam.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the province has 34 high schools with an expected 7,378 candidates participating in the exam. Based on the guidance documents of the Ministry of Education and Training and understanding the new points in the Examination Regulations, the Department of Education and Training has directed schools to implement many key solutions: Organizing teaching and review in the direction of closely following the sample exam questions; classifying students to review according to each level group; actively organizing survey tests to evaluate and adjust the review plan. In particular, after Circular No. 29, dated December 30, 2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on additional teaching and learning took effect, the Department requested educational institutions to organize full and serious regular teaching and learning according to the program; maintain free review for final year students, ensuring that they have enough knowledge and capacity to enter the exam. Regular inspections and surveys are applied to promptly adjust appropriate review plans.
The Education sector clearly directs the responsibilities of heads of high school education institutions in organizing exam review, ensuring the assignment of qualified teachers to participate, and enhancing professional activities to adjust the content and review methods. Career counseling is also focused on, supporting students in choosing majors and exam groups suitable to their personal abilities. With careful preparation from the Education sector, along with the spirit of effort and high determination of students, the 2025 high school graduation exam is expected to take place seriously, safely, and achieve high results.
