Vo Nguyen Giap Square is a project of great cultural, architectural and historical value, a highlight of the urban space of Thai Nguyen City. However, the area of the Square currently has some unsightly images, which need to be strengthened and adjusted promptly.

Vo Nguyen Giap Square area is crowded, especially in the evenings and on weekends and holidays. |
Vo Nguyen Giap Square project was built on a total area of nearly 47,000m2, including: Square yard; stage yard; central stage; reliefs... completed and put into use for a long time. This is the venue for important events of Thai Nguyen province and city, a place for community activities of the people.
In particular, the landscape project along the Cau River behind the Square is overgrown with grass, becoming a place for spontaneous garbage and waste collection, causing loss of urban beauty.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, in Group 2, Trung Vuong Ward (Thai Nguyen City), shared: Every day I walk through the Square, and I see that the landscape behind the flagpole is too dense and overgrown; the dike road is also very degraded. I hope that the project will receive investment resources to renovate it, both to beautify the city and to benefit the people.
According to the reporter's investigation, the Vo Nguyen Giap Square campus has a small stage, space for organizing events and a room for exhibition or sales services in the back, but it is currently abandoned, rusted and degraded; surrounding households use it to raise livestock.

The secondary stage area in Vo Nguyen Giap Square is left empty, causing waste. |
In addition, Vo Nguyen Giap Square has not yet arranged a parking area and lacks public toilets. Currently, the toilet project of the Square is being invested in, but due to the semi-underground design, when it rains heavily, it will be flooded, posing a potential danger, especially for children.
To temporarily meet people's needs, authorities have installed mobile public toilets near the fence of the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnology, but many times they are locked...

The public toilet cabin area is installed next to the fence of the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnology but is often locked "for repairs". |
It is known that some construction items at Vo Nguyen Giap Square have not yet been handed over to the functional units of Thai Nguyen City, causing certain difficulties in management.
With the still unsightly images at Vo Nguyen Giap Square, the authorities and local government need to take measures to fix and repair damaged and degraded items and improve the appearance of this area. At the same time, promptly complete the unfinished toilet project; have a plan to use the stage area and related items appropriately to avoid waste and better serve the cultural, physical education and sports needs of the people.
In March 2023, the Urban Management Department of Thai Nguyen City submitted a proposal to invest in the Landscape Construction Project behind Vo Nguyen Giap Square. Accordingly, the Project belongs to Group B, with a total estimated investment capital of 200 billion VND from the city budget and other sources (of which, 170 billion VND is for site clearance compensation); implementation period is 2023-2025. The objective of the Project is to complete the green space and landscape, creating urban beauty for the center of Thai Nguyen City in general, the Thai Nguyen Stadium area, Vo Nguyen Giap Square and Ben Tuong Bridge in particular; gradually implementing the plan to develop green parks in the city. |
