BHG - Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Government , many poor households in the province have been able to live in new, spacious and solid houses. This shows the affection and deep concern of the Party, State and People for those in difficult circumstances to help them firmly step on the path to escape poverty and stabilize their lives.
Recently, the family of Mr. Trieu Chan Ho, Ban Tan village, Tan Thanh commune (Bac Quang) happily inaugurated a new house. Mr. Ho is the main breadwinner in the family, single-handedly raising his elderly parents and a young child, his wife left and never returned, and his father has been paralyzed and bedridden for more than 10 years. Sharing those difficulties, the State supported 60 million VND, and with the help of the locality and neighbors, he has made efforts to build a level 4 house with enough space to shelter from the sun and rain. In the warm and friendly atmosphere of the day he returned to his new home, the leaders of Tan Thanh commune presented the national flag and a picture of Uncle Ho to Mr. Ho's family. Mr. Trieu Chan Ho was moved to express: "I thank the attention of the Party, the State and the love of the village and neighbors for helping my family have a decent place to eat and live, which has helped me feel secure to go to work to support my family."

Comrade Quoc Thi Thanh Thao, Secretary of the Tan Thanh Commune Party Committee, said: “The rate of poor and near-poor households in the commune is still high. In the process of implementing support for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, the commune encountered many difficulties because most of the households are located in areas far from the center, the roads are difficult, and the transportation of materials takes a lot of effort and money. However, thanks to the drastic direction, synchronous participation, and the cooperation of cadres, party members and people, 20 houses were completed and disbursed on schedule. The forces supported the households with more than 600 working days and 55 million VND in cash. After moving to the new houses, the commune also gave them more trees and seedlings, helping the families form a mindset and production habits, create products, and gradually reduce poverty.”
As of mid-April 2025, Quang Binh district has started, completed and moved into new houses for 162 households under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching 100% of the plan. The total disbursed budget is more than 9.1 billion VND. The number of mobilized working days is 6,728 days. To achieve this result, the district has flexibly implemented many creative methods, suitable to the actual conditions of each commune and town. At the same time, clearly assigned responsibilities to each member of the Steering Committee, assigned specialized departments and offices to monitor the local area, ensuring the progress and quality of the project. Along with that, the district has made good use of local resources, promoted the role of the community, especially cadres, party members, and prestigious people in propaganda, mobilization, spreading the spirit of mutual love, helping families in difficult circumstances.

Ms. Ly Thi Tuy, Nung ethnic group, Ngoi Han village, Tan Trinh commune (Quang Binh) shared: “Many years ago, my child and I lived in a slanted stilt house that was at risk of collapsing at any time. Both mother and child were illiterate, and our lives were precarious, mainly depending on farming. When the State supported us to build a house, I sold my buffalo, the most valuable asset in the house, and borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank, and with the help of relatives, we were able to contribute a total of 50 million VND to build a solid 3-room stilt house with concrete. The dream has now come true.”
With the principle of building houses according to the 3-hard standards, up to now, the whole province has completed and put into use 2,967 houses. In the spirit of the drastic direction "Only discuss, not retreat", the entire political system and the people are continuing the journey, speeding up the implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, helping thousands of poor households have a place to "settle down and make a living", lighting up a bright future.
