One of them is Obayashi, one of the largest construction corporations in Japan, including 86 subsidiaries and 26 joint ventures, with more than 13,000 employees and total annual net revenue of up to 1,400 billion yen (about 9.4 billion USD).
This contractor has also left many marks in major projects in Vietnam. Obayashi Corporation was established in 1892 in Osaka, Japan, named after its founder - Mr. Yoshigoro Obayashi. The main activities of the group are construction works (including many traffic works) and real estate business.
Tokyo Station was built by the Obayashi Corporation.
The development and reputation of this group is clearly demonstrated through the projects that Obayashi has carried out in Japan since its early years until now. Starting with the construction projects of Osaka Port and the Fifth National Industrial Exhibition Center.
In 1914, the Obayashi Company began construction of Tokyo Central Station (now Tokyo Station), marking the company's national technological advancement. The station survived the devastating Kanto earthquake that devastated Tokyo in 1923, but it remained intact.
Over the years, Obayashi has grown significantly through many projects, especially transportation works such as the first Osaka City Subway system, running from Yodoyabashi to Kitakyutaro-machi.
In 1991, celebrating its 100th anniversary, Obayashi continued to participate in many key transportation projects such as the construction of Kansai International Airport and the Tokyo Bay Expressway.
Not stopping at the national scale, Obayashi has made its mark with many international records. In 1962, Obayashi was the first Japanese construction company to receive a construction project abroad. After that, the company entered the US market and became the first Japanese contractor to win a bid for the San Francisco City Government's sewer system construction project.
In Vietnam, Obayashi Corporation took its first steps in 1992, establishing representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Over the years, Obayashi has become known for many outstanding projects such as: Thanh Tri Bridge, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Passenger Terminal, Thu Thiem Tunnel, East-West Avenue (Ho Chi Minh City)...
In addition to its hundreds of years of experience, Obayashi continues to innovate and develop new technologies. Most recently, it tested a new road infrastructure system at its Technology Research Center in Kiyose City, Tokyo, with many partners outside the construction industry.
The company will conduct tests to develop technologies to supply electricity to electric vehicles while they are moving or stationary on the road, as well as technologies to ensure communication while using system services.
This project, called "e-MoRoad", is expected to contribute to solving emerging problems in the world such as environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral electric vehicles.
