Travel experiences to enjoy while young

VnExpressVnExpress10/07/2023

Traveling by train instead of plane, using student cards to get discounts on museums and amusement parks are the advantages of youth.

Below are some adventure experiences that are rated "wonderful" only for travelers under 30 years old, when you have a lot of time and health but not much money, according to suggestions from CNN.

Travel across Europe by high-speed train

Spending the summer traveling Europe by rail is a fun experience. "Take a train in Paris, France, to travel through the European countryside to Berlin, Germany. Then wander the canals of Venice, Italy, before catching a train to admire the beauty of Florence," CNN suggests.

Kofi Landon, 20, from Manchester, England, traveled across Europe by rail in the summer of 2022. He entered an online competition and won a free Interrail pass to travel across the country. But the British traveler said that even if he had to pay, the rail experience was "really worth it." Landon recalled a morning he visited Lake Bled in Slovenia to admire the turquoise waters surrounding the church in the middle of the lake. "I thought I was dreaming at that moment," he said. By the end of the trip, Landon estimated that he had saved nearly $900 by traveling by rail instead of flying.

Work and travel

Working holiday visas are considered by CNN as the "perfect choice" for young people who want to enjoy a long-term adventure. This visa program provides work and leisure opportunities for young people who love to travel. About 50 countries allow people aged 18-30 to apply for the Working holiday visa program, a 12-month visa that allows them to stay, live and work in another country.

Tammy Thurman, from the UK, first heard about the working holiday visa five years ago, when she was in her 20s. Thurman's friend had been to Sydney when she applied for the visa, and she followed suit. "I realised the only barrier was my own decision to apply for it," she said. The young traveller then spent months travelling and working in Canada and Australia.

Use student privileges

Many tourist attractions, theme parks, and museums around the world and in your local area offer discounts to children, pupils, and students. If you are over 18 and a student, take advantage of this discount.

Many airlines also offer discounts to younger travelers. Norwegian and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) offer exclusive discounts to passengers aged 12-25. The only requirement is to present valid identification when boarding the plane.

Hagström Lung, 23, who lives in Finland, said that taking advantage of SAS's benefits has allowed him to travel a lot. Lung said booking his tickets was "very easy."
