According to the representative of the Vaccination Center, Vaccine Control Institute ( Ministry of Health ), to protect people from diphtheria, the best and most effective way today is vaccination.

There are currently various types of vaccines available for people to take the initiative to get vaccinated to prevent diphtheria, such as:

Adacel Vaccine:

A vaccine indicated for active immunization in people aged 4-64 years. Adacel vaccine can be selected for the 5th dose of Diphtheria, Tetanus, Acellular Pertussis (DTaP) vaccine for children aged 4-6 years.

The vaccine is given to adults in one dose, and needs to be repeated every 5-10 years to strengthen immunity against diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough.

Tetraxim Vaccine:

Indicated for injection in children from 2 months to 13 years old.

The vaccination schedule is 3 basic injections:

– First injection for children 2 months of age and older.

– 2nd dose: Injected 1 month after 1st dose.

– Injection 3: Injected 1 month after injection 2.

– Booster shot: 1 shot 1 year after the basic vaccination series.

In addition, a booster shot can be given between 5 and 13 years of age.

Doctors also recommend that people get vaccinated against diphtheria, and should give their children booster shots when they reach 16-18 months of age, 4-7 years of age, and 9-15 years of age because the protective ability of the diphtheria vaccine decreases over time.

In addition, cases such as: Women before or during pregnancy, people over 50 years old, people with chronic diseases should also be vaccinated to prevent diphtheria.
