Promote investment in tourism development to meet current new tourism needs and trends.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Pham Van Thuy said that in recent years, the Government has paid much attention to the tourism industry. Investment in the tourism sector has been prioritized, mobilizing tourism investment capital from many sources: state budget, domestic private investment, foreign direct investment, foreign non-governmental organizations, and socialized capital sources. The form of public-private partnership in tourism development investment has also been implemented, bringing positive effects to promote the development of the tourism industry.

However, investment attraction activities in the tourism industry still have some shortcomings and limitations such as lack of attraction strategy, or lack of specific preferential policies and incentives for investors in disadvantaged but potential areas.

Many localities with tourism potential have not yet attracted investment, so their unique values have not been truly promoted. In addition, the limitation of transport infrastructure to access many potential tourist destinations discourages investors; many investment projects are behind schedule or unfinished...

To ensure quality and attract more investment in tourism development in the new situation, many barriers and bottlenecks need to be removed. Mr. Pham Van Thuy expressed his hope that this conference will be an opportunity for scientists, managers, businesses, investors in the tourism sector and related fields... to share their views, experiences, and contributions to promote investment in tourism development, meeting new tourism needs and trends now and in the future.

At the workshop, Deputy Director of the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development Pham Hoai Chung said that by 2050, Vietnam will have 41 expressways with 9,014km, 173 national highways with 29,854km; 25 railways with 6,354km, completing the North-South high-speed railway; 14 international airports, 19 domestic airports; 36 seaports, synchronous investment in ports, shipping routes, auxiliary works...

Based on these orientations, Mr. Pham Hoai Chung proposed to seriously implement the approved plans, ensuring the development of a synchronous and sustainable transport infrastructure system. Encourage investment in upgrading transport infrastructure from different economic sectors, maximizing the role and resources of localities in infrastructure investment. Focus on using state capital in key national projects with "dynamic and spillover" characteristics to attract investment from other economic sectors in local and regional infrastructure projects.

Sharing experiences from Korea, Dr. Kim Young Jun from the Korea Tourism Culture Research Institute said that Korean localities have focused on investing and building complexes to promote strong tourism development. He also recommended that Vietnam build a structured investment attraction policy, driven by the people; provide strong incentives to encourage private capital investment. In addition, establish multilateral platforms to attract investment.

Investors can take advantage of the opportunity to invest and effectively exploit emerging destinations of Vietnam tourism.

Also at the workshop, delegates listened to presentations on the current situation and solutions for infrastructure investment to meet the needs of Vietnam's tourism development; investment in the tourism sector from a business perspective; effectively promoting investment sources in product development and tourism development; referring to Korea's investment attraction policy in tourism development and recommendations for Vietnam... Opinions at the workshop also focused on proposing the creation of favorable policy mechanisms to attract investment; organizing specialized conferences to attract investment; investing in products to attract tourists; investing in effectively exploiting new trends in cuisine, halal food, wedding tourism...

Speaking at the workshop, Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed that the development of the domestic tourist market and the increasing interest of many international tourist markets in Vietnam show investment opportunities. By promptly grasping and clearly identifying new market needs and trends, investors can take advantage of opportunities to invest and effectively exploit emerging destinations of Vietnam tourism.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed that the Workshop had correctly assessed the current situation and presented the results of attracting foreign investment in tourism. However, there are still many shortcomings that need to be overcome in attracting investment. Accordingly, it is necessary to remove barriers in institutions, policies, and legal frameworks to remove bottlenecks, especially incentives and facilitation in tax, land, credit, administrative procedure reform, investment licensing, planning, etc. Invest in infrastructure development, especially in disadvantaged areas. Promote professional and substantial tourism investment to avoid wasting resources.

To motivate investors to choose to invest in the tourism sector in Vietnam, it is necessary to rely on many internal factors such as tourism potential and local destination brands to promote investment attraction in tourism, especially foreign investment.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan also said that it is necessary to have an open policy to attract foreign investment, an attractive investment environment, especially the readiness and initiative of localities in promoting tourism investment attraction, and facilitating administrative procedures in granting tourism investment certificates./.
