According to Insider Gaming , in a report compiled by TweakTown.com and provided by Nintendo, it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch ecosystem has generated over $69 billion in lifetime revenue to date.
That staggering figure includes more than 1 billion game sales and around 125 million hardware sales. And even today, seven years after the console first appeared, it continues to sell. The original Switch has reportedly sold nearly 90 million units, while the new OLED model – released in late 2021 – has sold around 15 million.
The Nintendo Switch ecosystem has generated nearly $70 billion in revenue.
TweakTown's report is very detailed, and it covers activity from the Nintendo Switch's launch in March 2017 through March 2023. The report estimates that as much as 94% of Nintendo's net sales revenue during that time was made up of Switch sales, with the peak occurring in 2021 – nearly 30 million units were sold that year.
Although sales are slowing down at the moment, there is still some hope for improvement as Nintendo recently released Tears of the Kingdom to some positive reviews and an incredibly high ranking in gaming history.
There are also many users expecting that a new Nintendo console - potentially the 'Switch 2' - will be revealed in the near future, and it's possible that the Nintendo Switch is nearing the end of its lifecycle.
