Co To farmers dominate the rural economy

In recent years, Co To farmers have boldly innovated production, applied technology to agriculture, and created many effective business models. The role of the people is increasingly evident in the development of the local rural economy.

In the period of 2023 - 2025, Co To commune has 1,280 farmers achieving the title of excellent farmers in production and business at all levels. A typical example is Ms. Chau Thi Nuong - Deputy Director of Ta Danh Agricultural Cooperative, an excellent Vietnamese farmer in 2025. She has succeeded in growing edible mushrooms and medicinal mushrooms in a closed-loop model towards green and sustainable agriculture.

Ms. Chau Thi Nuong said that along with the market demand for edible mushrooms and medicinal mushrooms, the facility produces products such as: Black termite mushrooms, Ganoderma lucidum mushrooms, Cordyceps mushrooms, and Abalone mushrooms. In addition, there are processed products: Freeze-dried Black termite mushrooms, shredded pork, snacks; dried Cordyceps mushrooms for tea, wine, honey; ground Ganoderma lucidum mushrooms for instant tea, wine, dried, ornamental; Abalone mushrooms and straw mushrooms for snacks... "The output of the mushroom farms reaches more than 10 tons/year; annual revenue is 12 billion VND. The facility also creates jobs for about 30 local workers, with an income of 6 - 9 million VND/month", Ms. Nuong shared.

In addition to the movement of farmers competing in production and business, the Farmers' Association of Co To commune mobilizes members and farmers to participate in implementing national target programs. According to Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Co To commune Huynh Thanh Phong, activities of beautifying and building rural roads, canals in the fields, and protecting the environment when launched have received enthusiastic responses from members and farmers. Notable models are "Lighting up the countryside roads", "Farmers participating in environmental protection", "Environmentally friendly trash cans", "Say no to nylon bags and plastic waste"... helping to spread and attract farmers to build bright, green, clean, and beautiful countryside.

Specifically, in the period of 2023 - 2025, the Commune Farmers' Association mobilized farmers to donate 7,000m2 of land to build a people's cemetery, contributing over 1,000 working days. In addition, it voluntarily donated 2,000m2 of land to build rural roads; built 20 new concrete bridges, with a total cost of 2.7 billion VND and over 2,400 working days. In addition, it participated in installing 10km of street lights and 220 solar lights, with a total cost of 467 million VND; and spread dust on 751km of intra-field roads, with a cost of 604 million VND.

The Commune Farmers' Association supports members and farmers in building and developing effective economic models; participating in the development of collective economic forms in agriculture and rural areas. These activities help farmers to link and support seeds, capital, techniques, science and technology, thereby creating agricultural products with high economic value, organic products, meeting the consumption market. At the same time, capital support; vocational training and development; supply of agricultural materials and equipment; access to scientific and technological advances; product promotion and consumption...

Mr. Huynh Thanh Phong assessed that the emulation movements continued to be developed in both breadth and depth, contributing practically to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development goals, ensuring national defense and security in the commune. That affirmed that the association is truly the center and core of the farmers' movement. In the coming time, the Commune Farmers' Association will continue to innovate, improve the effectiveness of propaganda, mobilization, gathering, and uniting farmers, taking care of the material and spiritual life of farmers. At the same time, continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of farmers' movements; promote the movement of farmers competing in production and good business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty.
