This place is also a reliable address providing bamboo rat seeds for people in the startup area. Mr. Dinh Tien Hoang has just been honored as a typical advanced farmer in the period 2020-2025 of Phu Tho province.

Starting with 10 pairs of bamboo rats left by acquaintances, Mr. Dinh Tien Hoang's farm has now exported thousands of bamboo rats for meat and breeding, with revenue in 2024 reaching nearly one billion VND. This is also a place to supply and transfer breeding techniques to many households.

Since 2019, Mr. Hoang has boldly borrowed capital and started building a small barn to raise bamboo rats. He started with the idea of raising bamboo rats to take advantage of available agricultural products around the house such as sugarcane, bamboo, corn - the main foods of bamboo rats. Mr. Hoang's diligence and meticulousness were rewarded when the bamboo rats grew quickly and reproduced strongly. From the initial 10 pairs of bamboo rats, after one year, Mr. Hoang has developed the herd to hundreds of bamboo rats.

Mr. Hoang said: Rats are a very easy species to raise and care for, and almost do not require the use of veterinary medicine to prevent disease. Each time they give birth, rats usually give birth to 2-5 babies; female rats can give birth to 2-4 litters a year, so the population multiplies quickly. Rats only need to be fed once a day. Although easy-going, raising rats requires elaborate and complicated housing because each animal is in a different cage. The cage needs to have separate cells, must be heat-resistant in the summer, warm in the winter, not exposed to direct sunlight, must not be wet and must ensure the cage is always clean.

Sharing about his entrepreneurial journey, Mr. Hoang said: When the rats started to reproduce well, in the third year, I intended to expand the barn, but it was very difficult because the family also had limited land for production, only steep hills and mountains, and building a barn required a large, flat, and sturdy area. I was determined to borrow money and invest to level the hill to create a flat surface, build a solid foundation, build a barn, roof it firmly, and block each brick to build a "house" for the rats. Gradually, the barn became stable, and gradually expanded. One difficulty after another, when the barn was located high up, it was very difficult to move around and transport food for the rats. From there, I came up with the idea of building a winch system, like a train track, to transfer food to the barns. Food was neatly arranged in baskets, then a button was pressed, the winch system operated and would transfer food directly to the barn, workers only needed to receive and divide the food into each cell for the rats. This model has brought practical results...

After six years of starting his business, Mr. Hoang has thousands of bamboo rats exported to all over the world every year. At the farm, there are always more than 1,000 bamboo rats, both for breeding and meat. Currently, he focuses on raising giant bamboo rats and peach-cheeked bamboo rats. Giant bamboo rats grow quickly, each year they reproduce 2-4 litters, each litter has 2-5 bamboo rats. The price of meat bamboo rats is 600,000 VND/kg, the price of seedlings is 1.2 million VND/kg. Peach-cheeked bamboo rats are currently being multiplied by him. The price of meat bamboo rats is 800,000 VND/kg; the price of seedlings is 2 million VND/kg.

Over the past six years, Mr. Hoang's cooperative has become a trusted address for thousands of farmers in and outside the province to visit, learn about the model and buy bamboo rats to develop production. Although the export quantity is quite large, it is still not enough to meet market demand. In addition to supplying bamboo rats, he also stands up to purchase products for households to buy bamboo rats to raise, joint ventures, and partnerships for development.

Developing the economy , getting rich right on his homeland, and at the same time supporting and helping more farmers and families have jobs and more income is what makes Mr. Hoang happiest.
