Thai Nguyen farmers compete in good production and business

In recent years, the movement of “Farmers competing in production, good business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty” has spread widely among farmers’ association members throughout the province. From fields, gardens, hills, ponds, lakes, etc., tens of thousands of farmers have risen to become good economic performers, becoming a bright spot in agricultural and rural development.

Mr. Pham Van Sy, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association (PPA), said: In order for the movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" to achieve practical results, PPA levels in the province regularly coordinate with departments, branches and sectors to promote propaganda, organize training, and transfer scientific and technical advances into production. Farmers are supported to apply new varieties and modern technology in cultivation and animal husbandry, gradually transforming the crop and livestock structure to suit local practical conditions and market demand. Along with that, capital support is implemented synchronously.

As of May 30, 2025, the Farmers' Association at all levels has entrusted over 2,840 member households to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank with a total amount of over VND 1,524 billion; in coordination with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, it has helped over 10,300 households access loans of over VND 1,500 billion. The Farmers' Support Fund at all levels is managing over VND 66 billion, supporting 125 projects with 1,257 households participating in economic development.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoang, Director of Tien Phong Agricultural Cooperative, Yen Trach Commune (Phu Luong) has cooperated to build a medicinal material area of ​​more than 7 hectares, creating 15 different product lines.

Not only do farmers have easy access to capital, they also receive direct support for input materials. The Provincial Farmers' Association cooperated with businesses to supply over 4,000 tons of fertilizers on deferred payment, organized 26 field workshops and 7,428 technical training courses with over 354,000 participants. From the emulation movement, many new initiatives and models have been researched and applied. From 2021 to 2024, 35 technical topics and initiatives were recognized at the Provincial Farmers' Association's Technical Innovation Contest. 140 outstanding agricultural products were honored at the provincial level in the period 2020-2024, demonstrating the potential and constant innovation in farmers' production thinking.

Many outstanding examples from the movement have become a driving force to encourage the spirit of farmers. In Dinh Bien commune (Dinh Hoa), Mr. Ma Tuyen Nga, a Tay ethnic, has successfully built a model of raising fish fry combined with raising ducks. From a few small fish ponds and a flock of ducks at first, the model has now developed on a large scale, bringing in nearly 1 billion VND in revenue, nearly 800 million VND in profit per year, creating jobs for 4 regular workers and 10 seasonal workers, providing technical guidance, and disseminating effective farming experiences to 9 other households in the commune.

In Phu Thuong commune (Vo Nhai), Mr. Lanh Van Huu has taken advantage of the hilly land to develop a multi-industry model: livestock farming, fruit tree growing, and agricultural materials trading. Each year, he earns nearly 3 billion VND in revenue and 1.7 billion VND in profit. In 2024, he was honored to be recognized as a good production and business household at the provincial level.

From the midland hilly area of ​​Bai Kinh hamlet, Yen Trach commune (Phu Luong), Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoang, 34 years old, Director of Tien Phong Agricultural Cooperative, has cooperated with farmers in the area to build a production model combining medicinal plant cultivation and free-range chicken farming on an area of ​​nearly 7 hectares. At the same time, investing in science and technology, successfully producing 15 product lines from medicinal herbs such as khôi nhung, địa liên, ba kích, muồ bầu rung ... Overcoming difficulties, his production model has brought in a revenue of more than 1 billion VND. Not only enriching his family, he also creates seasonal jobs for many local workers and is willing to share his experience and production techniques with young people in the area.

From practical effectiveness, the emulation movement for good production and business is increasingly receiving active response from members and farmers. Every year, the whole province has over 95,000 registered households, of which over 51,000 households achieve titles at all levels. The movement has become an important driving force to help Thai Nguyen farmers take control of their fields, change their production mindset, contribute positively to rural economic development and stabilize social life...
