This past winter carrot crop in Duc Chinh commune had big tubers, beautiful appearance, and the highest yield ever.

By April 9, farmers in Duc Chinh commune had finished harvesting all 360 hectares of carrots grown in the commune and about 1,200 hectares grown on rented land in several provinces and cities: Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Thai Binh , Hanoi...

The average yield is 2 - 2.5 tons/sao, about 2 - 3 quintals/sao higher than the 2023 winter crop. This is the highest yielding carrot crop ever.

German Carrots of the winter crop have few pests and diseases, large tubers, beautiful appearance, and the proportion of green-headed tubers (tubers selected for export) is lower than previous years. The reason is that after storm No. 3, the area of land outside the dike where carrots are grown in the commune was deposited with a large amount of alluvium. Storms and floods also reduce pests and diseases...

Favorable weather and few pests and diseases help farmers reduce investment costs. In the last winter crop, the cost of growing carrots per sao was about 2.7 - 3 million VND, a decrease of 200,000 - 300,000 VND compared to the previous crop.

The winter carrot output of Duc Chinh commune in 2024 is estimated at about 65,000 tons, an increase of 5,000 tons compared to the previous winter crop, with an estimated value of over 300 billion VND. About 45,000 tons are for export to countries such as Korea, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. The remaining 15,000 tons serve the domestic market, mainly consumed in the South.

Although the selling price of carrots has decreased this year, high productivity still helps farmers earn an average profit of 3.5 - 4 million VND/sao, a slight decrease compared to last year.

About
About 70% of Duc Chinh carrot output is processed and exported to other countries.

Duc Chinh carrots are increasingly sought after by foreign businesses. In the 2024 winter crop, 30 businesses from the above countries will sign consumption contracts, an increase of 8 businesses compared to the 2023 winter crop.

Duc Chinh Commune is the "capital" of carrot cultivation in Cam Giang District. This is the main crop that brings jobs and stable income to people in and outside the commune.
