On the morning of September 19, the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the 4th "Vietnam Organic Day" to support the development of organic agriculture in the area.
According to the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, the total area of organic agricultural land in 2021 is 119,105 hectares, accounting for 0.5% of agricultural land. Vietnam ranks 7th among Asian countries in terms of organic agricultural land area and 3rd among ASEAN countries. To date, the country has 7,310 farmers participating in organic production, 60 business units, and distribution and export of organic agricultural products.

Mr. Ha Phuc Mich, Chairman of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, said that Vietnam's organic agricultural product export turnover is still very low, reaching only over 335 million USD/year, while the value of the world organic market in 2022 is about 183 billion USD. The Organic Agriculture Development Project 2020-2030 approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 885/QD-TTg/2020 has set a target of 2.5% -3% of agricultural land area for organic production; the added value of organic products compared to conventional products is 1.5-1.8 times. It can be said that the current period is a favorable opportunity for the development of organic agriculture.
According to Mr. Dinh Minh Hiep, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City, developing organic agricultural production in the city is associated with the goal of protecting the environment, developing biodiversity, contributing to the development of tourism and services. The city is also a place that consumes large quantities of organic agricultural products in particular.

The city is focusing on key solutions such as training, coaching, and propaganda about organic products; surveying and evaluating organic agricultural production conditions, identifying suitable organic agricultural products; promoting the application of science and technology in organic agricultural production; implementing policies to support the development of organic agriculture and advising and proposing specific policies.
In the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City will encourage businesses to focus on increasing the area of organic agricultural production, and at the same time support businesses investing in production in this field.
