After the merger, Cam My commune was established on the basis of merging 4 commune-level administrative units including: Long Giao town, Nhan Nghia commune, Bao Binh commune and Xuan My commune. These are all localities that have achieved many impressive results in building new rural areas. In the period of 2025 - 2030, Cam My commune continues to invest in completing rural infrastructure associated with the goal of building a commune that meets advanced new rural standards in an ecological and modern direction.
Cam My commune is one of the top localities in the province in investing in rural infrastructure in building new rural areas. In particular, the old Long Giao town has met civilized urban standards. According to the Political Report of the Party Executive Committee of Cam My commune presented to the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the commune, term 2025 - 2030, period 2020 - 2025, the locality has mobilized a total capital investment of over 2,560 billion VND; deployed, completed and put into use works such as cultural institutions, schools, socialized rural traffic works, electricity systems for daily life, production, domestic water supply...
In particular, the locality has done well in mobilizing all social resources to improve the landscape and rural environment such as planting trees, maintaining environmental hygiene; mobilizing resources to crack down on crime; installing lighting, installing cameras to ensure security and order on roads, strengthening model residential areas...
The locality's highlight in building new rural areas, especially model residential areas, is that there are many solutions to protect the environment from daily life to production. Specifically, in daily life, the locality encourages smart consumption, limiting the use of plastic bags, disposable plastic products, using organic detergents instead of conventional products, sorting waste at the source, etc. Accordingly, model residential areas, model roads that are bright - green - clean - beautiful are constantly being replicated. Therefore, the rural appearance in Cam My commune is increasingly spacious, clean, beautiful and modern.
Cam My commune has an average annual growth in total production value of more than 13%. Of which, the production value of the agricultural sector increases by an average of 5.14%, the industry - construction sector increases by an average of nearly 12.75% and the trade - service sector increases by an average of nearly 17.2%. The average income per capita in the commune reaches 97 million VND/year.
Developing clean agriculture in an organic direction
During the 2020 - 2025 term, one of the breakthrough tasks that the locality focuses on implementing is developing clean, organic agricultural production; applying science and technology to production; perfecting infrastructure, promoting socio-economic development. Mr. Doan Van Liem, Vice Chairman of Cam My Commune People's Committee, said that in building new rural areas, the locality will continue to attract private investment in building infrastructure to serve agricultural production, especially specialized areas. Cam My aims for efficient, sustainable agriculture, promoting processing industry and applying high technology to increase the value of agricultural products, ensuring stable output for farmers, Mr. Doan Van Liem emphasized.
As a result, up to now, the commune has formed 6 concentrated production areas; 9 production and product consumption chains associated with durian growing area codes for export and OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program); 6 growing area codes associated with product traceability to serve the domestic and export markets; 3 organic production models with an area of nearly 64 hectares. In particular, the whole commune has more than 128 hectares of crops certified by VietGAP; nearly 1,400 hectares of crops using water-saving irrigation systems.
Mr. Do Luong Y, Head of the Nhan Nghia Durian Cooperative Group, is a representative of the commune's excellent farmers and businessmen who were honored to attend the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, term 2023 - 2028. He is a pioneer farmer in growing durian specialties with high economic value. In particular, he has linked up with many local farmers to convert production according to VietGAP processes, as well as create codes for durian growing areas for export. According to Mr. Y, to be granted a code for durian growing areas for official export to the Chinese market, gardeners must comply with very strict production processes and must change many farming practices to produce safe products. In particular, the benefits when farmers participate in the chain are being provided with input materials at good prices and quality; being supported in transferring farming techniques and especially having their products sold at the outlet for sustainable development.
Over the past time, collective economic models in the commune have been continuously expanded and consolidated. Currently, the whole commune has 9 cooperatives and 30 cooperative groups, many of which operate more and more effectively, especially production and business cooperatives in pepper, durian, and goat farming. A typical example is the Quyet Tien Agricultural - Trade - Service Cooperative, which has effectively implemented the large-scale project of growing green-skinned grapefruit. The cooperative's green-skinned grapefruit products have achieved OCOP certification, building a chain from production to consumption, and the products of its members have units that guarantee consumption at good and stable prices.
To develop sustainable agricultural production and realize the goal of building an advanced and exemplary new rural area, Cam My commune continues to encourage and promote the development of collective economy; focus on consolidating and improving the quality and efficiency of existing cooperatives and cooperative groups; and at the same time develop new cooperatives and cooperative groups.
Vice Chairman of Cam My Commune People's Committee Doan Van Liem said that the main income of people in the commune is still mainly from agricultural production. Accordingly, in the coming period, in building advanced and exemplary new rural areas, the locality will continue to focus on attracting investment from the private sector in building infrastructure to serve agricultural production, especially specialized production areas. The locality will continue to promote restructuring the agricultural sector towards efficiency, sustainability, improving quality, added value and competitiveness. Promote the development of clean agriculture in the organic direction, applying high technology to commodity production, associated with the development of agricultural processing industry and product consumption market.
