Power Plan VIII was issued in Decision No. 500/QD-TTg dated May 15, 2023 of the Prime Minister. According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, up to now, 16 localities have not had their list of renewable energy sources approved in Decision No. 262/QD-TTg. Of which, the total number of wind power projects proposed by localities for the second time is 124 new projects/7,778.9 MW; the total number of small hydropower projects proposed by localities for the second time is 132 new projects/1,381.98 MW; the total number of biomass power projects proposed by localities for the second time is 21 new projects/414 MW; the total number of waste-to-energy projects proposed by localities for the second time is 34 new projects/621.1 MW. Regarding the 7 wind power projects in Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, there are 4 wind power projects with a total capacity of 200 MW located in Dak Lak province, 2 wind power projects with a total capacity of 28 MW located in Ninh Thuan province and 1 wind power project with a total capacity of 103 MW located in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

Comrade Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, spoke at the Ninh Thuan provincial bridge.

Ninh Thuan province proposed that the Government consider approving the Cong Hai 1 Wind Power Plant - Phase 2 and Cong Hai 1 Wind Power Plant - Phase 1 to continue development. At the same time, it proposed that the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade consider updating the completed solar power projects, namely Thien Tan 1.2, Thien Tan 1.3, Thien Tan 1.4 solar power projects and the Phuoc Thai 2 and Phuoc Thai 3 solar power projects currently under implementation, to the list of the Plan for implementing the VIII Power Plan to ensure legal succession of the planning to avoid wasting social resources.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Government Inspectorate to review projects that are capable of overcoming the violations mentioned in the inspection conclusion to continue implementation, ensuring the criteria for building the project list of the electricity sector as stipulated in Decision No. 500/QD-TTg. Advise and review and adjust additional projects for biomass power, waste-to-energy, hydropower, etc. Localities continue to study and review electricity projects implemented in the locality, and have reports stating the inspection conclusion and reporting on corrections in accordance with regulations. For projects that overlap with other plans, localities proactively work with relevant agencies to inspect and carry out procedures to adjust the plan, creating conditions for project implementation.
