Report of female tourist who exposed her plane ticket being torn up when leaving the country
On May 17, a Taiwanese female tourist (who requested not to be named) who shared a controversial story about having her boarding pass torn up by an immigration officer at Phu Quoc airport and loudly threatened to "not expect to go home" spoke up about the incident.
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , the female tourist said that when entering Vietnam to begin a 6-day, 5-night vacation on Phu Quoc Island, her family of four went through the procedures at the same time without being separated, and everything went smoothly, without any problems.
However, when completing exit procedures to return to Taiwan on May 13, they encountered a tense situation.
She said her family initially lined up together. But immigration officers asked them to split up and go through separately.
"One of my two children was unwell. My husband had to carry him, while I took the other child. I asked the staff if we could go two at a time, and they agreed. Then I stepped back to line up as requested," the female tourist recounted.
However, when her husband went through the exit procedures, the immigration officer suddenly announced that he did not want to process the procedures for their family, and asked them to stand in a separate line and continue waiting.
The female tourist said she was very surprised and asked for the reason, but only received the answer "no reason" from the immigration officer.
Standing aside and seeing the lines next to her continuously going through procedures, the female tourist continued to ask if her family could continue to clear customs.
However, the immigration officer suddenly snatched her passport and plane ticket from her hands, then tore up her daughter's boarding pass right in front of the whole family.
"He came out of the counter and shouted in the lobby, 'Don't expect to go home today,'" the tourist said. She said she was in shock and didn't understand what was happening.
Feeling unfairly treated, the female tourist said she did not continue arguing with the immigration officer but immediately contacted the tour guide.
Thanks to the timely assistance of the tour guide, the plane ticket was reprinted and her family completed exit procedures.

Satisfied with the tour and dedicated tour guide
The story then attracted the attention of the online community when she shared the incident on the social network Threads on May 13. The information quickly spread and was reported by Taiwanese media.
She said that one day after the incident was made public (May 14), a representative of the Phu Quoc airport immigration agency sent an apology to her and her family through the travel company.
"They wanted to apologize and asked me how I wanted to resolve it. I replied that I had received the apology, but I would not delete the post," the female tourist emphasized.
Despite the incident, the female tourist still affirmed that the Phu Quoc trip was generally very good, and she was especially satisfied and grateful for the service of the travel company as well as the tour guide who wholeheartedly supported her family during the incident.
The incident has caused heated debate on social networks, with many conflicting opinions about the handling of the case by immigration officers at Phu Quoc airport.
While many people expressed sympathy for the female tourist's family, others said that the behavior of both sides needed to be reconsidered.
The incident is also a lesson for relevant parties in ensuring proper, professional, friendly and respectful attitudes towards international tourists.
