Speaking to the reporter was Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (born in 1969) - mother of actor Cuong Pham. Although busy with the funeral, she still held back her emotions and shared with the reporter "as a way to say goodbye to her son".
The last two months of life were full of tears.
Since the beginning of this year, Cuong Pham has been suffering from occasional headaches and vomiting. Due to his negligence, he self-administered intravenous drugs at home, which made his condition worse.
When his family took him to Binh Chanh District Hospital, the doctor diagnosed Cuong Pham with a fungal brain disease and recommended transferring him to another hospital. Last March, he was admitted to the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
In the last week, Cuong Pham suddenly became weak, his mouth became stiff, and he had difficulty speaking. Due to difficulty breathing, he was transferred to a room with a ventilator to continue treatment.

On May 10, the actor suddenly stopped breathing and was taken to the emergency room. After 5 p.m., Mrs. Nga and her two sons entered the emergency room to see Cuong Pham for the last time.
Cuong Pham's brother and sister could not hold back their tears. Mrs. Nga did not return home, but stayed outside the emergency room to watch the situation.
At 11pm the same day, Cuong Pham was still breathing but had completely lost consciousness. The doctor asked Mrs. Nga to take her son home so that his relatives could see him one last time and arrange his funeral.
He was brought home by his family and breathed his last at around 2:30 a.m. on May 11.
In the last two months of his life, Cuong Pham was sensitive and emotional, so he often cried.

"On May 10, I went home to rest a bit. When I returned to the hospital, Cuong hugged me and cried loudly, saying: 'I love you so much, don't leave me.' I cried too, reassuring him: 'Mom loves you so much, I've taken care of you for the past few months and I've never left you.' He was so scared that he didn't dare sleep because he was afraid that if he opened his eyes, he wouldn't see his mother by his side," Ms. Nga choked up.
Cuong Pham once said his biggest regret was not being able to take care of his mother. He gave all the money he received from relatives who visited him to make up for it.
Make up with family
Mrs. Nga has 4 sons, Cuong Pham is the third. 13 years ago, her husband left home and she raised 4 children alone.
Cuong Pham is passionate about the art of bingo, so he and his friends founded the Ben Xua theater troupe, leaving home to perform everywhere. For about 10 years now, he has rented a house to live on his own, only occasionally coming home to ask his mother for a few hundred thousand to 1 million dong when he is in need.
Mrs. Nga and her brothers were upset and angry, blaming Cuong Pham for pursuing an unrealistic passion. If he had many shows, he could pay his own rent; when he had few shows, he had to ask his mother for help. When he was hospitalized, the whole family found out that he didn't even have health insurance.
"He is gentle and polite by nature, and the neighbors love him. He doesn't help, but he has never harmed the family. When my children do something wrong, I scold them a little, but how can I ignore them?", said Mrs. Nga.

About a year into his life, Cuong Pham returned to his family, and not long after, he fell ill.
During this period, the actor resolved all conflicts with his family members. Cuong Pham cried and apologized to his brothers. They responded in tears: "Back then, you were drunk and cursed me. Now, I just want you to get well soon."
Ms. Nga admitted that Cuong Pham's treatment caused the family to owe about 70-80 million VND. Before that, she was worried about her younger brother and mother's medical treatment so she had almost no money left and had to borrow money everywhere.
Actor Cuong Pham's funeral will take place from now until noon on May 18. Initially, his family planned to cremate him at Da Phuoc Cemetery, but Mrs. Nga did not agree because "cremation is too painful."
She planned to borrow money to buy land to bury Cuong Pham, then her paternal family gave her land in Da Phuoc commune, Binh Chanh district so he would have a place to rest.
