This afternoon, November 28, at the 28th session, the Hanoi People's Council, term XVI, 2021 - 2026, considered and decided on a number of contents under its authority.
At the meeting, 100% of the Hanoi People's Council delegates present voted in favor of electing Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, term XVIII, 2025 - 2030, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, term XVI, 2021 - 2026.

Also at the meeting, the Hanoi People's Council delegates dismissed Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung from the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 16th term, 2021 - 2026 (due to health reasons and personal wishes).
Previously, the Hanoi Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.
According to the decision, the Politburo has assigned and appointed Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; introduced him to the City People's Council to elect him as Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Thus, the leadership of the Hanoi People's Committee currently includes Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Duc Thang and 5 Vice Chairmen of the City People's Committee, including: Mr. Duong Duc Tuan, Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luu, Ms. Vu Thu Ha and Mr. Truong Viet Dung.
Mr. Vu Dai Thang was born on November 4, 1975; hometown: Hanoi. Professional qualifications: Master of International Relations, Bachelor of Foreign Economics, Bachelor of Law.
Regarding his working process, from April 2008 to March 2014, Mr. Vu Dai Thang held the following positions: specialist of the General Department - Foreign Economic Affairs Department; specialist, Deputy Director of the Service Economic Department; Director of the Department of Economic Zones Management (former Ministry of Business and Investment).
From April 2014 to March 2018, Mr. Thang was Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province (old); Alternate member of the 12th Party Central Committee (from January 2016).
From March 2018 to July 2020, Mr. Thang held the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. From August 2020 to January 2021, Mr. Thang served as Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee. In July 2021, he was elected as a delegate to the 15th National Assembly.
From October 25, 2024 to February 2025, Mr. Thang was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
From February 2025 to April 2025, Mr. Thang was a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee.
From April 9, 2025, he was a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ninh province.
On September 26, 2025, at the 16th Congress of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, Mr. Vu Dai Thang was re-elected to hold the position of Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
