This is the time to enter the main chili harvest season of Spring 2025. Currently, traders and businesses have been gathering at the gardens to buy fresh chili from chili growers in Chi Lang district.
It is known that the area for growing chili in the 2025 Spring crop in Chi Lang district is 700 hectares, a decrease of more than 60 hectares compared to the 2024 chili crop. Not only has the area decreased, but the yield of chili in this year's Spring crop in Chi Lang district has also decreased sharply. Specifically, the yield is only 416 kg/sao, a decrease of 167 kg/sao compared to the 2024 Spring crop. The main reason for the decrease in the 2025 Spring crop in Chi Lang district is that when the plants start to bear fruit, there is a lot of rain, causing waterlogging, and the chili stems rot, causing a lot of fruit to fall.
Although productivity has decreased, to ensure stable consumption and increase the value of chili, Chi Lang People's Committee has been coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade and a number of relevant agencies to promote chili consumption. In particular, strengthening links with businesses and cooperatives inside and outside the province to boost chili export to the Chinese market.
