| Crashers: Mom's Birthday - an interesting debut film from screenwriter Nguyen Thanh Binh. |
Common family conflicts
The film tells the story of Mrs. Tue Tam (played by artist Ai Nhu) - a mother who knows she is about to die because of a serious illness and wants to live a full life with her children and grandchildren in the family. She is considered a conservative parent who only wants her son Y Duc (Tran Kim Hai) and her grandson to become doctors according to her expectations. When her son does not go as expected, Mrs. Tam is unhappy and "miserable". On the contrary, Duc is depressed and has low self-esteem because of his mother's pressure. Both sides lack mutual understanding.
Ironically, Duc is a failed person, cheated, and in debt. In the end, Duc colludes with the scheming doctor Quang Tai (Samuel An) to come up with a bold, shady plan to split the insurance money, solving the difficulties for both of them.
Duc's crazy and unfilial plan to make money took place in a tearful and hilarious scene, the strange details arose on the day of Mrs. Tam's funeral (which was also... her 60th birthday). From relatives to neighbors and hooligans who came, from the person who unexpectedly claimed to be Mrs. Tam's ex-husband to the neighbor named Tinh (Thanh Hoi) who loved her very much, creating a scene that was both humorous and heartbreaking.
Leading the cast of Pha bang: Sinh nhat me is the veteran stage artist duo Thanh Hoi - Ai Nhu (first time acting in a movie) and Hong Anh. All 3 fully transformed and moved by their roles. Alongside are actors: Tran Kim Hai, Samuel An, Tin Nguyen, Hoang Phi and "guest" artists such as Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, Huy Khanh and singer Ngoc Son - who sang the song 60 years of life (Y Van) in the funeral scene.
Repentance
Nguyen Thanh Binh (known by the nickname Binh Bong Bot) is the head of the Bot Creative Hub scriptwriting team, who has written scripts for many popular movies. With Pha bang: Sinh nhat me, those who know Thanh Binh will not be too surprised that the film has a unique idea, diverse expression and has its own style in the Vietnamese film market or "one color". The film contains elements of comedy like So do (Vu Trong Phung). Thanh Binh himself also revealed that he made this film inspired by the excerpt "Happiness of a funeral" in So do.

| The film crew debuted to the audience on October 28 in Ho Chi Minh City. |
However, Thanh Binh also said: He was inspired by the essay "The Rose on the Shirt" by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and the deep memories from the play "The Rose on the Shirt" at Hoang Thai Thanh Stage (reproduced from the play of the same name by the Kim Cuong Theater Group in the past). Therefore, the film has a satirical spirit when it depicts the tragedy of conflicts in a contemporary family ("I wish my mother had not given birth to me" - Duc once angrily and rudely said to his mother!). The cruel drama that Duc and Quang Tai performed shows that sin can arise from countless circumstances and reasons, but fortunately, the unfilial son repented in time.
Although Mother's Birthday still has some immature and "dramatic" details, it has a rich emotional family theme, a bold narrative, graceful juggling, arousing curiosity and is resolved reasonably and humanely at the end of the film. The film makes viewers look at the dark side of lowly personal interests under the light of eternal life values such as filial piety, motherly love, love...
