It is known that the Can Gio - Vam Lang sea ferry route, after being completed and put into operation, will connect with the Vung Tau - Can Gio sea ferry route. At that time, people from Tien Giang province in particular and Long An, Ben Tre , Soc Trang provinces in general going to Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau City will have more options for new forms of transportation, shortening the distance (about 70 - 80 km) and travel time (about 45 - 60 minutes) compared to traveling by road in the direction of Can Gio - Can Giuoc ferry (Long An province) before.
According to the agreement and direction of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City is the agency in charge of selecting investors to operate the Can Gio - Vam Lang sea ferry route and the Department of Transport of Tien Giang province is the coordinating agency.

At the same time, this transport route is oriented to connect the coastal road route, contributing to the synchronous development of the inter-regional transport infrastructure system between the provinces. Along with that, it will enhance the ability to transport and circulate goods in coastal areas, opening up the possibility of economic integration between regions in the Mekong Delta, developing logistics services, trade and tourism”, added Director of the Department of Transport of Tien Giang province, Tran Van Bon.
