Strive to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses before October 31

BPO - On May 11, the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide held its fourth meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Attending the conference at Binh Phuoc bridge point were Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tue Hien; Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tuyet Minh and leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

In recent times, with the drastic and high determination of the entire political system, the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide has had rapid and clear changes. Up to now, localities have eliminated 209,000 temporary and dilapidated houses, of which, over 111,000 houses were inaugurated and over 98,000 houses were started. Since the 3rd meeting until now, 87,000 houses have been started to be built, on average each locality started to build 26 houses per day. By April 30, 8 more localities had completed the plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, including Binh Phuoc.

Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh shared experiences and good practices in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Binh Phuoc province at the meeting.

In addition to the resources supported by units, organizations and enterprises of over 3,100 billion VND, localities have also mobilized over 1,800 billion VND, many working days and construction materials to serve the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. With 26 localities registering to complete from now until October, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide is expected to be completed by October 31.

Sharing experiences and good practices of Binh Phuoc province at the meeting, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh said: Responding to the Prime Minister 's launch of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, Binh Phuoc province has urgently reviewed and compiled statistics on the current situation, resolutely implemented and completed before April 30, 2025, 6 months earlier than the Prime Minister's regulations, 2 months earlier than the province's plan. The program has built and repaired 765 houses, with a total cost of VND 53,790 billion.   VND, including 625 apartments for poor and near-poor households with a cost of VND 45,240 billion.   VND 140 houses for meritorious people with a budget of VND 8,550 billion   In the coming time, Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee will continue to lead and direct the review of households in difficult circumstances, households that have benefited from housing support policies many years ago but have degraded, seriously damaged, and need to be repaired to have appropriate support and repair plans.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of ministries, branches, localities, and the responsible support of the business community. With the great humanitarian significance of the program, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, and localities to strengthen coordination, synchronously deploy groups of solutions, and promptly resolve difficulties and problems arising during the implementation process. At the same time, the Prime Minister also called for continued cooperation and contribution from the business community, organizations, and individuals in building and repairing houses; promoting the rising spirit of beneficiaries. Thereby, together with the political system, effectively implement sustainable poverty reduction work, helping poor households, near-poor households, and policy families to settle down and make a living, leaving no one behind.
