Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí24/04/2023

The film was adapted from the short story of the same name by writer Nguyen Thi Thu Hue, first broadcast in the Sunday Arts program in 1997 on VTV3 channel. Although it only had 3 episodes, Please Believe Me created a storm and left a deep and unforgettable impression on the 7X and 8X audiences at that time.

In particular, the soundtrack song " Mong uoc ky niem xua" performed by the group Tam ca 3A has also become one of the "key" songs of many generations of students every season of saying goodbye to school and friends.

After 26 years, the lives of the cast have changed a lot. On April 23, the audience was shocked by the news that actress Le Hang - who played the female lead Hoai "That Cho" in the film was arrested for drug use.

Le Hang as Hoai "That Cho"

Le Hang was invited by director Do Thanh Hai to play the female lead role of Hoai "That Cho" in Please Believe Me when she was not yet 20 years old and was a first-year student at Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema.

With her natural, delicate and graceful acting, Le Hang successfully portrayed the character Hoai "That Cho" who is rebellious and unruly.

At that time, the image of Hoai "That Cho" with short hair, dusty clothes, and a rough personality became a phenomenon. To the point that when people went out on the street and met any "tiger" girl, they called her... Hoai "That Cho". However, hidden behind that rebellious appearance, Hoai was a very emotional person: She took care of an orphan and always protected her friends.

After Please Believe Me , Le Hang participated in several more VTV films such as: Bao in Night Candles , Thanh Wolf in White Collar , Ban in Street Stories , Tuy in Dragonfly Squadron ... but did not leave much of an impression.

Le Hang also admitted that Hoai "That Cho" was a "shadow" too big for her to overcome. She almost "lost" her real name because many years later, whenever they saw Le Hang's face, the audience only remembered and called her Hoai.

In 2012, she quietly left the stage and screen. Her contemporaries also did not know what her life would be like after that.

On April 23, Le Hang was arrested for illegal drug trafficking. This news surprised many viewers and made them feel sorry for the actress.

Le Vu Long as Phong "the playboy"

Taking on the male lead role of Phong "the romantic" - the Conservatory student who changes Hoai "That Cho" is Le Vu Long.

Like Le Hang, the role of Phong also left an unforgettable mark in Le Vu Long's acting career. The image of Phong as a "romantic prince" with a delicate face, scholarly demeanor and middle-parted hair at that time "captivated" many young girls.

The popularity of "playboy" Phong spread so widely that he received several boxes of letters over a long period of time, from his home to Vietnam Television.

After the success of the role of Phong in Please Believe Me , Le Vu Long participated in a number of films such as Vertical Summer, Falling Cua, The Rippers, Sleepwalking Woman ...

Starting out as a dancer, Le Vu Long is also known as the son of actor Le Dung Nhi. Like his father, he considered cinema as a pastime, not a career. When his acting career was developing, he stopped and decided to say goodbye to the small screen to pursue dancing.

A year before, he played a man with 3 wives in The Third Wife. In this film, Le Vu Long had a hot scene with a 13-year-old actress, causing a fierce controversy. The film was later forced to stop showing nationwide.

Sticking with the dance major, Le Vu Long quickly rose to fame as a dance director and then general director for many art performances. He has never regretted leaving the 7th art to pursue ballet. Le Vu Long also said that he did not refuse cinema, the problem was how to appear in a role.

Regarding his personal life, he got married in 1998 when Please Believe Me aired. Currently, Le Vu Long has a peaceful and happy life with his wife and 2 children after nearly 30 years. It is known that his wife is also a dancer.

After breaking up with my second husband, I decided to throw all my high heels and dresses aside. I bought myself a lot of flat shoes and sneakers to become a faster and stronger person.

Honestly… what people see in me as resilience and determination is all due to the clothes and the pressure of life and children. I have to be agile, have to earn money so as not to fall behind and take good care of my children. But inside I am still very feminine and sometimes weak…”

"Now, I neither expect nor reject. If I meet someone who can love and accept all my flaws and circumstances, I am ready to accept them.

But for women my age, who have experienced ups and downs in life, a man's love is not enough. Sometimes I think, a husband is worth three children... I'm afraid. I'm afraid of being busy, so I don't dare to like him," Hoa Thuy confided.
