With "huge" ingredients including 4,000 eggs and a truck full of sugar and fresh cream, French pastry artisans on April 23 completed an impressive culinary work: a strawberry cake measuring 121.8 meters long.
They confidently claim this is the longest strawberry cake ever created in the world .
The creator of this sweet miracle is Youssef El Gatou, a talented and passionate chef. Together with 20 colleagues, El Gatou transformed an ice rink in the town of Argenteuil - a suburb of Paris - into a giant bakery, where the "legendary" strawberry cake was created over a week of continuous work.
To make this cake, the chefs used 4,000 eggs, 350kg of fresh strawberries, 150kg of sugar and 415kg of cream - all of which are domestic agricultural products.
The cake is not only a testament to the art of French baking, but also an affirmation of the position of French cuisine on the world map, surpassing the record-breaking 100.48m cake set in Italy in 2019.
Speaking about his motivation to set the record, El Gatou said he had been dreaming of this since he was a boy. "I was looking for a product, a typical French cake, and I also wanted to honor local agricultural products, especially French strawberries and dairy products such as cream and butter," he said excitedly.
Each resident who comes to admire the cake will take home a small piece as a sweet gift and, most of all, inspiration to believe that any dream, no matter how strange, can come true./.
