On November 15, the Ministry of Information and Communications and Vietnam Post Corporation issued a stamp set "Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of musician Van Cao (1923-2023)".

The stamp set "Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of musician Van Cao (1923-2023)" includes 1 sample, with a face value of 4,000 VND, designed by artist Pham Quang Dieu (Vietnam Post Corporation), with a size of 43 x 32 (mm), provided on the postal network from November 15, 2023 to June 30, 2025.

Designed in a graphic style, the main color of the stamp set is warm brown to honor the historical value that the musician left behind with a very familiar and close portrait of the talented musician and the music and lyrics of the song "Tien Quan Ca" composed by the musician in 1944, which was stipulated in Clause 3, Article 13 of the 2013 Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as the National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The stamp set was issued to honor the great contributions of musician Van Cao to the Vietnamese revolutionary music. Not only did the song "Tien Quan Ca" resound proudly for the first time in front of a crowd at the Hanoi Opera House square, but he also continued a long journey with a massive musical career that contributed to the immortal value of Vietnamese music, along with typical innovative poems, musician Van Cao's talent was also shown in painting.

Musician Van Cao's full name is Nguyen Van Cao, born on November 15, 1923 in Lach Tray ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city, and his hometown is An Le village, Lien Minh commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province. Belonging to the pioneering generation of musicians, Van Cao joined the Dong Vong group, composing romantic songs, most notably Ben Xuan, Suoi Mo, Thien Thai and Truong Chi. He quickly became one of the most prominent pioneers of the romantic movement in the history of Vietnamese music, especially leaving his pioneering mark on modern Vietnamese music.

In 1944, Van Cao joined the Viet Minh and released the song "Tien Quan Ca". From then on, his music made a big shift from romantic, lyrical and critical realism to revolutionary - resistance style (in music, painting and poetry). He wrote many songs and marches as prophecies about the future of the country: "Vietnam Navy", "Vietnam Air Force", "Vietnam Workers", "Vietnam Soldiers", followed by "My Village", "Mua Day", "Marching to Hanoi", especially the songs "Praise for President Ho" and "Long Song of Lo River"...

He passed away in 1995, one year after his death, musician Van Cao was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize in the first award ceremony. He was also awarded the First Class Resistance Medal, Third Class Independence Medal, First Class Independence Medal, and Ho Chi Minh Medal by the State. His name was also given to many beautiful streets in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Nam Dinh...
