(Dan Tri) - Hanoi authorities have just discovered and temporarily seized 0.8 tons of frozen chicken offal products of unknown origin in Hoang Mai district.

According to information from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, on May 13, Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department (QLTT) coordinated with Team 6 - Economic Police Department (PC03), Hanoi City Police to conduct a surprise inspection of a goods gathering location at the land opposite Lane 197, Thuy Linh Street, Linh Nam Ward, Hoang Mai District.

Upon inspection, the authorities discovered 20 foam boxes sealed with tape, containing 0.8 tons of frozen food including young chicken eggs and chicken intestines. The boxes had no labels, no indication of the manufacturer, place of production, or storage conditions as prescribed.

The owner of the shipment could not present invoices, vouchers or legal papers proving the origin of the goods. At the same time, he admitted that the above goods had just been purchased and had not yet been sold on the market.

After working with the authorities, the owner of the shipment admitted the violation and committed to voluntarily destroy all infringing goods after receiving a penalty decision in accordance with the law.

Currently, the entire shipment has been recorded, sealed and temporarily detained at a cold storage facility of a business in Hai Ba Trung district to serve the investigation and handling according to legal regulations.

Recently, authorities have continuously discovered and arrested many cases of manufacturing and trading functional foods, fake medicines, milk, and foods of unknown origin. Most recently, on April 28, authorities discovered nearly 11 tons of foods of unknown origin in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi.

Specifically, the inspection team discovered nearly 11 tons of food including beef and beef offal such as: intestines, tendons, stomach... in a frozen state, unused, contained in plastic bags without labels or product information. Many of the foods showed signs of spoilage and had an unpleasant odor. The total value of the shipment was more than 188 million VND.
