Promoting cultural practices of ethnic minorities contributes to promoting gender equality

Baoquocte.vn. From March 5-6, the Workshop and Festival of creative models/activities promoting good cultural customs of ethnic minorities (EMs) to contribute to promoting gender equality was organized by the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province.

The event was attended by about 250 delegates, including leaders of the Vietnam Women's Union, representatives of central ministries and branches, leaders of Dien Bien province, experts, researchers, delegates of the Women's Union and representatives of regions and areas in 50 provinces/cities implementing Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, period 2021-2030.

Within the framework of the program, there was a workshop to share experiences in promoting good cultural customs of ethnic minorities in promoting gender equality and a discussion and exchange with invited guests to share initiatives and experiences in promoting good cultural customs of ethnic minorities in promoting gender equality.

In particular, the Festival of creative models/activities promotes good cultural customs of ethnic minorities, contributing to promoting gender equality.

Here, 7 teams participating in the festival from the provinces: Son La, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Quang Ngai, Ca Mau , competed in media skits about gender equality issues such as safe childbirth, early marriage, incestuous marriage, prevention of domestic violence...

As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes and 2 Encouragement Prizes to creative and practical teams, contributing to promoting gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
