Promoting students' potential for innovation for the community

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Director of Danang University, this is a young, healthy, highly educated force, the quintessence of the country. Besides the efforts and dedication of teachers, the motivation and dedication to study and creativity of students are positive factors contributing to improving the quality of training and scientific research.

Every year, Danang University launches and awards the “Student Scientific Research Award” to promptly encourage students to actively participate. Research topics and results are completed and developed into innovative, start-up, and applied projects to serve the community.

Danang University directs member universities, youth unions, and student associations to organize competitions and academic playgrounds to foster entrepreneurial spirit in students, develop thinking, self-study methods, research and innovation, and attract a large number of students to participate, such as:

Danang University Youth Innovation Festival, Technology Startup Competition for students (all with coordination and support from the city's Department of Science and Technology); BKDN Techshow Technology Exhibition (University of Science and Technology); Startup Runway Competition (University of Economics )...

Recently, the University of Education and the University of Technical Education (University of Danang) organized student startup competitions, encouraging the application of ideas and research projects into practice. The results of the student innovation and startup activities of Danang University were recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training, and awarded certificates of merit at the "7th National Startup Festival for Students".

Thanks to being nurtured and supported to develop their potential for innovation and entrepreneurship from the classroom, students of Danang University continuously reap the "sweet fruit" of achievements in national and international awards and competitions.

A typical example is the project "A tool to support farmers in pulling beans applied in Tuy Loan" by the TWIST.M group, students from the University of Technology (University of Danang) won first prize in the national "Engineering Project for Community Service" competition (EPICS-2025).

“Based on the need to reduce labor and improve harvesting efficiency for farmers, a group of students researched, designed, and manufactured a peanut harvesting tool. The highlight is that the device is purely mechanical, does not use fuel or batteries, so it does not discharge waste into the environment; and recycles old bicycle parts to minimize costs,” said Vo Hoang, a member of the group of authors.

In the field of urban transport, a group of students from the University of Technical Education and the University of Economics have created a "Device for assessing road surface quality and warning of flooding on urban roads", initially putting it into effective application on many major roads in Da Nang.

According to student Nguyen Van Thang, Faculty of Electricity - Electronics, University of Technical Education, the device can be mounted directly on a motorbike with a data receiver, warning users via a 4G wireless communication network.

Users access the interface link and are warned of damaged or flooded roads, from which they can choose another safe and convenient route to participate in traffic. The team is currently connecting and coordinating with units managing and operating public transport such as buses to complete the application product to serve the community.

The topic "Design to upgrade and renovate the Hoa Xuan bridge intersection, Da Nang city" by the group of students Nguyen Duc Thien and Nguyen Minh Tu, Faculty of Construction Engineering, University of Technical Education also excellently won the second prize (no first prize) of the 36th national "Loa Thanh Award".

This is a prestigious competition organized by the Vietnam Construction Association since 1988, for outstanding projects of students in the field of construction and architecture. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Cao Tho, Principal of the University of Technical Education, the topic is practical, meeting the criteria of expertise, creativity, originality and science, when applied in practice, it has proposed a suitable solution to renovate the traffic intersection, contributing to overcoming the congestion at Hoa Xuan Bridge.
