Promoting the role of the elderly in building the political system

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Promoting the spirit of "Old age - bright example", cadres and members of the elderly association (NCT) in Nong Cong district are not only bright examples in patriotic emulation movements, building cultural life in residential areas, but also actively participating in building the political system at the grassroots level, contributing to effectively implementing socio-economic development tasks, ensuring security and order in the locality.

Leaders of the Elderly Association of Nong Cong district awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial Elderly Association to individuals who excellently completed their tasks in 2024.

After retiring in 2015, Mr. Hoang Anh Dao was elected as Chairman of the Minh Khoi Commune Elderly Association. During his work, he always focused on strengthening the association's activities; propagating to members to promote their role and prestige in order to mobilize their children and grandchildren to actively participate in labor production, promote economic development; be exemplary, actively practice a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, festivals... He regularly advised the superior Elderly Association and the Party Committee, local authorities to pay attention to and take care of the lives, fully implement the regimes and policies for elderly members, especially the elderly in especially difficult circumstances, long-term illness. In addition, he and the Executive Committee of the Commune Elderly Association developed a plan and deployed it to the Elderly Association branches on mobilizing the establishment of various types of clubs. Up to now, the whole commune has 4 intergenerational self-help clubs, 2 chess clubs, 2 men's and women's volleyball clubs, and 5 bicycle clubs. In the new rural construction movement, he and the elderly association branches have mobilized and promoted the families of members and their children to donate thousands of square meters of land to expand roads.

Chairman of the Association of the Elderly in Nong Cong District, Bui Phu Ninh, said: The whole district currently has 28,521 elderly members, of which 5,488 are party members, 203 are elected to hold the positions of village chief, head of residential group, 268 are members of the People's Inspection Committee, 321 are members of community mediation groups, 233 are members of the Association of the Elderly. Regardless of their position, the elderly are always dedicated to contributing their efforts, intelligence and experience to complete their work in the best way, becoming a reliable support for the local government and the people in strengthening the building of great national unity, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of government management and administration, and actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

In meetings with voters and People's Council delegates at all levels, many elderly members have frankly raised existing problems in the locality, promptly reflecting the opinions and aspirations of the people; at the same time, advising on solutions to overcome difficulties, contributing to building a clean and strong political system. Elderly associations at all levels in the district have also actively participated in establishing various types of clubs with the elderly as the core, which have brought about practical results in helping each other with loans, replicating many models, and encouraging the elderly to strive to escape poverty. To date, the whole district has established 84 intergenerational self-help clubs, attracting over 5,000 members to participate in activities. The total capital that the clubs are managing is more than 7 billion VND, helping thousands of households borrow to develop production and business.

With their contributions in various fields of work and social movements, the role and importance of the elderly, together with local Party committees and authorities, have been affirmed in effectively performing political tasks, building the Party, government, and grassroots organizations to become increasingly stronger.

To further promote the position and role of the elderly, the Elderly Association at all levels in Nong Cong district continues to focus on building a strong association; innovating the content and methods of operation to gather a large number of members to participate in the emulation movement "Elderly age is a shining example", associated with the movement of the elderly participating in building the grassroots political system, organizing a comprehensive and strong association, thereby increasingly enhancing the role and position of the elderly in society.
