Promoting the role of women in solving social problems

As the agency in charge of implementing Project 938, the Women's Union of Tien Giang province has continued to make efforts to achieve significant results in implementing the project. Thereby, it aims to enhance the role of all levels and sectors in supporting women to participate in solving social issues related to women, especially reducing gender-based violence with the spirit of "leaving no one behind".

STRENGTHENING COMMUNICATION WORK

Project 938 is implemented based on the viewpoint of taking women as the center, both as the subject of action and as the beneficiary, ensuring the resolution of a number of social issues related to women, aiming to build a safe environment for women and children. The project aims to provide information, knowledge and skills to members, women, and parents with children under 16 years old about the need to maintain and practice moral qualities, awareness of law compliance; the ability and role of women in ensuring food safety; preventing and combating gender-based violence, aiming to change behavior. Along with that, it is to support specialized staff of functional agencies to improve their professional capacity, expertise and skills to help women participate in solving priority social issues; to prevent serious cases of abuse and violence against women and children.

Closely following the objectives of Project 938, based on the orientation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Standing Committee of the Tien Giang Provincial Women's Union has coordinated to advise the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to approve the project implementation plan. Be proactive, innovative and creative in directing the implementation of Project 938 in the direction of selecting contents related to women and children in association with the functions and tasks of the Women's Union. Direct the Union at all levels to implement Project 938 in association with the annual theme "Safety for women and children", "Tien Giang women practice hygiene and food safety for community health", the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's and 3 clean" and the movement to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

Project 938 not only creates positive changes in awareness but also arouses women’s responsibility and action towards social issues around them. From propaganda work, policy dialogue to model building, legal consultation from the grassroots… all show the increasingly clear role of women in participating in management, supervision and building a civilized and progressive society. These efforts are contributing day by day to building the image of Tien Giang women as confident, brave and responsible.

In particular, the Provincial Women's Union has proactively researched and integrated activities into the province's programs, projects, and plans, connected and coordinated with relevant organizations and agencies to mobilize resources to implement the activities of Project 938. Signed annual coordination programs with relevant sectors... implemented many activities to raise awareness about child rearing, food safety, prevention and control of domestic violence, moraleducation , culture of Vietnamese people in general, women in particular...

Along with that, directing the Women's Union at all levels to actively advise the Party Committees, coordinate with the government to implement many policies and strategies to protect the legitimate rights and interests of women and children; pay attention to poor women and children. Promote female cadre work, create conditions for women to participate in political activities. Mobilize and create conditions for members and women to develop production and business, strive to become rich legitimately, raise healthy children, teach good children, and build happy families.

With the annual theme of "Safety for women and children", "Tien Giang women practice hygiene and food safety for community health", the Women's Union at all levels of Tien Giang province has mobilized resources, coordinated, and organized thousands of training courses and events to communicate knowledge and skills on family life education, pre-marital education, prevention of domestic violence, abuse of women and children, school violence... for members and women in many forms.

At the same time, members and women are equipped with professional knowledge and practical skills in propaganda, mobilization, and support for women, thereby applying them to the work of the Union, contributing to spreading the spirit of Project 938 to each facility, each member, woman and people.

EFFECTIVENESS FROM PROJECT 938

To effectively implement Project 938, the Women's Union at all levels of Tien Giang province has focused on building, maintaining and expanding models to support the building of happy families as a bridge to convey information, exchange and share issues on family life education, gender equality, prevention and control of domestic violence, communication and behavior, parenting skills, raising, educating, protecting children and building good relationships in the family. Focusing on and proposing many policies, programs and projects focusing on social security, solving social issues related to women.

With close direction from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the support of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the coordination of organizations, Project 938 has achieved impressive results. Most of the annual targets have been achieved and exceeded, creating positive effects, meeting the needs and aspirations of women. Thereby, the role of women in state management and sustainable development has been affirmed, especially in the context of natural disasters and epidemics seriously affecting life.

In particular, with the motto "No child left behind", after more than 4 years of implementing the "Godmother" Program, 100% of Covid-19 orphans in Tien Giang province have "Godmothers", 100% of the Association's facilities participate in the Program to receive "Godmothers" for orphans until the age of 18; the number of orphans sponsored by the Association at all levels until the age of 18 is 168, including: the Provincial Women's Union receives 3 children; districts, cities, towns, and affiliated units receive 45 children and facilities receive 120 children. Up to now, in the province, there are 1,357 Covid-19 orphans and orphans due to other circumstances who need attention and support. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the Association at all levels maintained and received support to care for and raise 517 orphans with a total value of over 351.5 million VND. The whole province currently has 1,570 orphans receiving sponsorship, with an amount of nearly 8 billion VND, including cash and gifts, clothes, books, candy, school supplies, etc.

Along with that, models of supporting happy families, gender equality education and preventing and combating domestic violence have been built and replicated. Activities of legal aid, child protection and intervention to support abused women and children have been deployed promptly. The system of more than 400 trusted addresses, shelters; rapid response teams, clubs: Legal aid, support for children at risk of abuse, prevention and combating domestic violence, women with the law, women's groups with the law, legal propaganda groups, etc. have been effective, helping many families overcome difficulties.

The highlight of Project 938 is the “Women-centered” perspective, women are both the subjects of action and beneficiaries, ensuring the resolution of a number of social issues related to women, contributing to building a safe environment for women and children. Through the activities of Project 938, women’s awareness has been raised, many members have changed their lifestyles, complied with the law and actively participated in social activities.
