“Green Nghi Son” was launched with a beach cleaning campaign (June 8), with the participation of the government and 31 businesses.
On the morning of June 8, at Nghi Son Bay (Nghi Son town), more than 400 volunteers simultaneously participated in the 2025 Ocean Cleanup Campaign, collecting about 30 tons of coastal waste. This event marked the launch of the "Green Nghi Son" initiative - a long-term action program to build a culture of environmental responsibility in the entire business ecosystem in the NSK. The campaign had the active participation of the Provincial Border Guard, Nghi Son Port Border Guard Station, Nghi Son commune authorities and 31 businesses inside and outside the economic zone.
In just 2 hours in the morning, nearly 30 tons of waste were collected from the coastal area. NSRP and participating businesses also donated a support package worth nearly 200 million VND to Nghi Son commune, including garbage carts, trash bins and protective clothing - clearly demonstrating their commitment to accompany the locality in long-term environmental protection activities.
Comrade Bui Tuan Tu, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Economic Zone and Industrial Zones of the province, shared: “Sustainable industrial development cannot be separated from responsibility to the environment and the community. “Green Nghi Son” is a testament to the new orientation - when development is not only based on capital, technology and economic efficiency, but also puts people, nature and community in the center. The “Green Nghi Son” initiative aims to establish the first multilateral cooperation model in the Economic Zone. This initiative not only promotes enterprises to develop in the direction of “greening” production activities, but also accompanies local authorities in propaganda, financial support as well aseducating environmental protection awareness to each citizen”.
As one of the two units initiating the “Green Nghi Son” initiative, Mr. Yamato Kazutaka, General Director of NSRP, said: “The unit always determines that production development must go hand in hand with environmental protection and community responsibility. The initiation and implementation of the ocean cleaning campaign today not only demonstrates our sustainable commitment, but also opens up a practical cooperation model for businesses to actively demonstrate their responsibility to the local government and community where the factory is located. We identify this as the beginning of a long-term journey, in which environmental protection is a core part of the green development strategy and responsible production at Nghi Son”.
Among the 31 enterprises participating in the campaign, 29 units have directly sponsored, including big names such as: Idemitsu Vietnam Co., Ltd., PTSC Thanh Hoa Technical Services Joint Stock Company, Energy Technical Services Joint Stock Company, Nghi Son Environment Joint Stock Company, PECI Vietnam Co., Ltd., VAS Nghi Son Group Joint Stock Company, Thanh Thien Technology Joint Stock Company, PHATECO Technical Services Joint Stock Company, Tan Hong Ha Tourism and Trading Company Limited, Nghi Son Cement Company... This is a clear demonstration of the change in thinking of enterprises in linking social responsibility with long-term development strategy.
According to the Management Board of Nghi Son Economic Zone and Industrial Zones, the beach cleaning campaign is just one of a series of actions of the “Green Nghi Son” initiative. In the coming period, the program will deploy a series of practical activities such as: treating household waste, sorting waste at source, planting coastal forests, raising public awareness and especially coordinating the construction of an environmental monitoring system in the industrial zone. The long-term goal of the initiative is not only to protect the ecological environment, but also to contribute to building a “green business culture” - where factories not only focus on production but also proactively innovate technology, reduce emissions and be transparent in environmental reporting according to ESG standards.
Accordingly, by 2026, the “Green Nghi Son” initiative will expand the model to the entire industrial park and call for the participation of new and existing enterprises investing in Nghi Son. “We expect this initiative to not only stop at Nghi Son, but also become a model that can be replicated in other economic zones across the country. The goal is to turn small actions today into big changes in the thinking of green industrial development in Vietnam,” said a representative of NSRP.
