Typically, in May, Thanh Hoa's industrial production index (IIP) increased by 14.3% over the same period - an impressive increase in the context of many localities facing difficulties in raw materials and consumption markets. Many key industrial products recorded strong increases, such as: cement increased by 51%, sports shoes increased by 28%, iron and steel increased by 20.2%, construction bricks increased by 15.4%, ready-made clothes increased by 13.6%, fertilizers of all kinds increased by 12%...
The province also recorded positive contributions from new industrial projects that were started and put into operation during this period, such as: VAS Steel Plant No. 2 in Nghi Son Economic Zone, Nam Ich Thai Thang Textile Factory, Automobile Wire Harness Manufacturing and Installation Factory. At the same time, many large infrastructure and production projects were also broken ground, such as: Hop Thang Industrial Cluster, Outdoor Gear Vietnam Sports Equipment Manufacturing Factory... These projects not only added new production capacity but also contributed significantly to increasing budget revenue, creating jobs and developing supporting industries.
Mr. Lee Kwang Ho, General Director of THN Automotive Systems Vietnam Company, said that the company is currently operating 3 factories in the districts of Ha Trung, Thach Thanh and Trieu Son. Of which, the factory for manufacturing and installing automotive wiring harnesses was just inaugurated in February 2025, with a designed capacity of about 1.3 million products per year, creating stable jobs for more than 500 local workers.
“During the project implementation, we have received very practical attention and support from the leaders of Thanh Hoa province and relevant departments and agencies. This is an important factor that helps the factory complete on schedule and quickly go into production. Currently, the company is continuing its expansion plan, thereby attracting more workers, contributing to the development of supporting industries and increasing the added value of the local mechanical and automotive industry,” Mr. Lee Kwang Ho emphasized.
Also in the first months of this year, small-scale industrial production and traditional craft villages continued to be stable with 118 craft villages in operation. The province currently has about 45,500 industrial production establishments, employing nearly 70,000 workers. Commercial electricity output in the first 5 months of the year reached 797.4 million kWh, up 5.95% over the same period, ensuring stable electricity supply for production.
In 2025, Thanh Hoa aims to achieve GRDP growth of 11% or more, industrial added value of about 18%, and export turnover of 8 billion USD. These figures demonstrate high determination and require synchronization in implementation. To ensure the industrial growth target of 18% in 2025, the industry and trade sector and localities focus on removing obstacles, accelerating project implementation, supporting businesses to optimize production, expand markets, and take advantage of opportunities from preferential tariff policies. This is an important preparatory step to promote strong growth in the remaining months of the year.
The representative of the industry and trade sector said that the unit is synchronously implementing 5 key groups of solutions to develop stable industry and increase value. First of all, the Department of Industry and Trade advises on planning for industrial development in harmony between breadth and depth, prioritizing investment attraction in advantageous fields such as processing, manufacturing, energy, petrochemical refining, high technology, electronics, and artificial intelligence. Along with that, the province promotes the development of agricultural, forestry, and fishery processing industry associated with raw material areas, forming a value chain from production to consumption.
The Department also advised the province to consistently pursue the viewpoint of industrial development in tandem with environmental protection, not approving projects that cause pollution, promoting circular production models, green technology and energy saving. In the export sector, the industry focuses on supporting businesses to effectively utilize new-generation FTAs, expand markets and increase the proportion of value-added products. At the same time, the industry and trade sector will continue to innovate management methods, reform administrative procedures, improve the effectiveness of inter-sectoral coordination, and create the most favorable conditions for businesses to develop production and business effectively.
