Speaking at the opening of the working session, General Secretary To Lam said: Long Thanh Airport is a project symbolizing the country's development aspirations. Over the past time, the units have implemented the project well, with many construction items ensuring progress.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized: Long Thanh Airport is a key national project with huge investment value and large capacity. When completed, it is expected to put Vietnam in the group of leading international aviation transit centers in the Asia- Pacific region.

Long Thanh Airport is planned for green and smart development, demonstrating Vietnam's vision for synchronous infrastructure development in the new period. This is also an important project contributing to the formation of the country's three strategic development pillars: institutions, infrastructure and human resources. In particular, Long Thanh Airport is an important infrastructure. "Therefore, it cannot be delayed, every day of delay is a loss for the country" - General Secretary To Lam emphasized.

General Secretary To Lam also requested agencies and units to focus on clarifying groups of issues related to the project. What will the project serve for socio-economic development? Around the airport cannot be rubber forests, it must be cities, high-tech industrial parks... It must be planned with Long Thanh Airport as the center, focal point, around the airport areas must develop high-tech industry, tourist areas, urban areas... Everything must be synchronized to bring about efficiency.

General Secretary To Lam also requested to calculate the project's investment efficiency. For Long Thanh Airport, the most important thing is to invest appropriately, effectively, and long-term, creating outstanding value for the country. Regarding the investment in the transport infrastructure network connecting Long Thanh Airport, especially with Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary To Lam requested to invest synchronously to promote the project's efficiency. "The spirit is to do it once, do it best, do it on par with the region" - General Secretary To Lam requested.

General Secretary To Lam also requested relevant agencies, especially the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the Ministry of Construction, and the Ministry of Finance, to evaluate and quantify the overall effectiveness of the project. In particular, passenger satisfaction and attractiveness to international airlines are important criteria to evaluate investment efficiency. "A modern airport is only truly effective when passengers want to come, airlines want to land, businesses want to invest, and the country benefits from the investment," General Secretary To Lam emphasized.
