Based on the advantages of climate and soil, people have planted many types of fruit trees such as: seedless persimmons, early plums, bananas, grapefruits, oranges, tangerines, melons, etc. Among them, seedless persimmons have become the main product, expanding the area on the hillsides, both creating landscapes and bringing high economic value. Many households have also boldly converted mixed garden land to grow oranges, tangerines, pears, and plums to diversify products and meet market demand.

Ms. Hoang Thi Anh, Phieng Chi village, Cho Ra commune, said: Thanks to training and technical guidance, the family's model of growing seedless grapefruit, banana, and persimmon has produced stable harvests. All stages from planting, caring, pruning, artificial pollination to pest control apply scientific advances, prioritizing biological measures, organic fertilizers and microbiological preparations to replace chemicals. Thanks to that, the products both ensure quality and preserve the ecological environment, bringing in an income of over 100 million VND per year.

The commune authorities also aim to expand the area of fruit trees on hills and mixed gardens, replacing ineffective crops. Many households have switched from corn and cassava to persimmons, plums, oranges and tangerines.

Mr. Duong Van Thoi, Coc Lai village, Cao Minh commune, shared: With the support capital from the State through national target programs, the locality has implemented many fruit tree growing models. Currently, many gardens have stable harvests, and at the same time, they are supported to apply clean farming processes, aiming at production according to VietGAP standards to improve quality and expand the market.

According to comrade Pham Ngoc Thinh, Chairman of Ba Be Commune People's Committee, with the advantage of soil, the locality has formed many models of growing fruit trees and some other valuable crops. The commune focuses on applying science and technology, encouraging households to link up for concentrated production, associated with building brands and OCOP products. Currently, the locality is oriented to develop a model of intercropping fruit trees with medicinal plants and forestry trees to increase income, increase forest cover and protect the environment. Planting fruit trees around the tourist area also contributes to creating a green, clean, beautiful landscape, attracting tourists.

In fact, choosing fruit trees with strengths has helped many highland communes to promote the advantages of climate, land and ecotourism potential. Thanks to that, the rural appearance is increasingly prosperous, people's lives are improved, creating a solid foundation for building new rural areas. In particular, seedless persimmon trees with more than 200 hectares concentrated in Cho Ra, Dong Phuc and Ba Be communes not only bring economic efficiency but also become a specialty associated with the brand of Ba Be lake area, favored by consumers.

To expand the area, especially seedless persimmons, the northern localities of the province are continuing to guide people to exploit suitable land funds, replace ineffective crop areas; at the same time, increase the application of science and technology, build brands, and perfect the linkage chain. This is an important solution for fruit trees to become key agricultural products, contributing to promoting sustainable agricultural development.
