Tan Duong Industrial Cluster (Dinh Hoa) is being completed, ready to welcome secondary investors to develop industrial and handicraft production. |
Identifying the development of industry and handicrafts as a "lever" for growth and economic restructuring, in recent years, Dinh Hoa district has focused on allocating resources and mechanisms and policies to encourage and attract investment. However, with the characteristics of a mountainous district, the starting point of the economic structure is mainly agriculture and forestry, production is self-sufficient, fragmented and small-scale, so it is difficult to create a concentrated commodity area with high added value.
As early as 2005, the XXI District Party Congress, term 2005-2010, the District Party Committee developed a project to develop industry and handicrafts with the goal of reaching a value of over 70 billion VND by 2010, accounting for nearly 15% of the economic structure. This was the time to lay the foundation for the local industry and handicrafts, when 3 small industrial clusters with 32 hectares were formed, including traditional handicraft production industries such as palm blind weaving, carpentry, agricultural product processing... However, due to difficulties in infrastructure, the district has not yet created a clear breakthrough and has only achieved some goals of supporting agricultural and forestry production activities to reduce labor and manual processing.
The summary of 15 years of implementing the program of developing industry, handicrafts and trade and services of the district in the period of 2006-2020 shows positive changes, such as: The value of industry and handicrafts in 2020 reached 320 billion VND, the annual added value of the industries in the area has changed the economic structure of the district in a positive direction, the proportion of industry and handicrafts in the economic structure of the district reached nearly 25%. Achieving this important goal, it is the transport infrastructure and electricity that have become the driving force for industrial development. |
Currently, in Dinh Hoa district, there are more than 80 forest product processing facilities applying industrial production processes. |
In Dinh Hoa district, there are nearly 60km of national highways, 40km of provincial roads, nearly 140km of district roads, more than 130km of inter-commune roads and nearly 800km of hamlet roads. In the period of 2015-2020, the district has invested hundreds of billions of dong in solidification and hardening, reaching over 60%, which has facilitated the circulation of goods connecting between regions, creating favorable conditions for processed agricultural and forestry products to access markets outside the province. In 2023, when Dinh Hoa district meets new rural standards, 100% of traffic routes will be solidified, connecting communes and connecting with national and provincial roads conveniently.
In particular, from 2022 to present, the Electricity sector has invested more than 200 billion VND to develop the power grid in the district, including the construction of a 110kV transformer station to ensure continuous and stable power supply throughout the district. Stable electricity, production development, the number of industrial, handicraft and service enterprises in the two years 2023-2024 in the district increased from 40 to over 130, including 80 forest product processing establishments located right in the raw material forest area. Electricity output has also increased from 70 million kWh (in 2022) to 82.4 million kWh in 2024, of which electricity output mainly serves the development of industry and handicrafts.
Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Head of the District Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department, shared: Implementing the Resolution of the 24th District Party Congress, term 2020-2025, on the goal of developing industry and handicrafts, the district has concretized it with the "Industry and handicrafts development program for the period 2021-2025" according to the plan to build a new rural district and the annual investment plan according to the national development target programs, the support programs of the Central and the province. Accordingly, focusing on investment to improve the quality of industry and handicrafts development, aiming to create a breakthrough in economic development, creating a position and strength for sustainable development.
