According to the Memorandum of Understanding on the Smart Factory Development Cooperation Project between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung Vietnam from 2022 to 2023, the program will support the development of smart factories at 50 enterprises and train 100 Vietnamese experts in the field of smart factory consulting. The program has provided extensive knowledge to help improve the professional capacity of domestic consulting experts. After the support process, enterprises have been equipped with knowledge and methods to effectively implement digital transformation projects towards developing smart factories, improving competitiveness to be ready to participate in the global supply chain.
After 3 years of implementation from 2022-2024, the Project has directly consulted 72 enterprises. Of which, from 2022 to 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung Vietnam have trained 122 experts in the field of smart factories in Vietnam and consulted on smart factory development for 52 enterprises nationwide.
In 2024, Samsung Vietnam consulted on smart factory development for 20 enterprises nationwide.
As one of the enterprises participating in the project, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Deputy General Director of Tran Thanh Company Limited, said that the application of information technology and real-time data collection for analysis, use and decision making has brought great efficiency to the company. In addition to the immediate reduction of financial costs, the shortening of operating time in the business, production and storage stages also brings us great value.
“ Samsung's consulting program has provided very practical support for Vietnamese enterprises to improve their management capacity, increase productivity/quality and gradually approach advanced world management standards ,” said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung.
Representing supporting industry enterprises, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Than, Director of AMA Bac Ninh Joint Stock Company shared that in order to survive and develop, in addition to improving productivity and quality, standardizing processes and sites, digitizing production data at each stage, updating in real time, making timely and correct decisions is a vital requirement for enterprises in general and AMA in particular.
"Realizing that, right from the moment we received the notice about the Smart Factory Development Project organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung Group, AMA registered to participate and made efforts to prepare personnel and implementation ideas before the Project started," said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Than.
For example, Viet-Nhat Electronics Co., Ltd. (Vinh Phuc Industrial Park, Van Giang District, Hung Yen Province) is one of the enterprises that benefited from the Smart Factory Development Support Project, implemented by Samsung in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. After 90 days of consulting, Viet-Nhat Electronics Co., Ltd. has almost "transformed".
“Thanks to the advice of experts from Samsung Group, we are converting old manual production lines to automation. This is one of many parts of the smart factory construction content that we are implementing and aiming for,” shared a representative of Viet-Nhat Electronics Co., Ltd.
More opportunities for supporting industry enterprises to join the Samsung chain
In order to support Vietnamese industrial enterprises to improve their management capacity, technical level and restructure production based on digital transformation, develop industrial human resources, and further strengthen the connection between Samsung and Vietnamese enterprises, contributing to increasing the localization rate, helping Vietnamese enterprises participate more deeply in the global supply chain, on May 12, 2025, the Department of Industry issued Official Dispatch No. 181/CN-CNHT on coordinating the implementation of the domestic supply chain development program.
Accordingly, the Department is coordinating with Samsung Vietnam to continue searching for enterprises to participate in the Project to support the development of smart factories at Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises (Smart Factory).

Mr. Tran Manh Ha - Head of Supporting Industry Department, Department of Industry said that in 2025, the Project aims to provide consulting and improvement support for 10 enterprises (5 enterprises in the North and 5 enterprises in the South) to apply the Smart Factory model. After selecting the supporting enterprises, the Project's experts will provide consulting support for smart factory development and management later.
During the 3-week theoretical training period, Samsung will coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to select outstanding Vietnamese consultants in the field of quality and productivity improvement to continue advanced training on smart factories.
During the 9-week internship, Samsung experts and Vietnamese consultants will survey and evaluate businesses and directly advise and work with businesses to improve the site and create a foundation for process improvement, thereby gradually establishing a smart factory.
Finally, based on the results of the field consultation, experts will continue to support businesses in building an operational and management system in the future, such as encouraging businesses to continue implementing improvement activities themselves and periodically checking the level of improvement in the production/IT sector after the project.
The Department of Industry added that it is currently reviewing and searching for businesses to participate in the Project to support the development of smart factories in Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises. At the same time, it is developing businesses capable of supplying 4 phone components and product details for Samsung Vietnam.
This activity aims to support Vietnamese industrial enterprises to improve their management capacity, technical level and restructure production based on digital transformation, and develop industrial human resources. In addition, it further strengthens the connection between Samsung and Vietnamese enterprises, contributing to increasing the localization rate, helping domestic enterprises participate more deeply in the global supply chain.
The cooperation program between the Department of Industry and Samsung Vietnam is a model of public-private partnership, clearly demonstrating its effectiveness in promoting the development of Vietnam's supporting industry. This is one of the important pillars in implementing the Vietnam Industrial Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, especially in the context that Vietnam is attracting a wave of global supply chain shifts. |
