Developing a high-class urban tourist area

Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat was formed on the basis of merging five central wards of the old Da Lat city; has the largest population among 124 communes, wards and special zones of Lam Dong province; is the political and cultural center of the province.

The ward is also the venue for the Da Lat Flower Festival, focusing on creative music spaces that helped Da Lat register as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Established on the basis of merging Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 10 of Da Lat city (formerly), Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat has a natural area of 73.4 km2, with a population of more than 103,000 people.

The ward has a national scenic relic of Xuan Huong Lake, considered a "green pearl" in the land of thousands of flowers of Da Lat, now the political-cultural center of Lam Dong province. The foundation of merging from the central wards of Da Lat city (before) has created many spaces and favorable conditions to help Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat develop strongly and comprehensively in the future, especially promoting the potential and strengths of tourism , services and trade.

Photographer Truong Ngoc Thuy was born and raised in Da Lat City (formerly), currently living in Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat. For him, the space around Xuan Huong Lake, Hoa Binh Area, Anh Sang Hamlet, further away the heritage axis of Tran Hung Dao Street, Tuyen Lam Lake... is "love sediment", built up over the layers of life time. "After the merger, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat embraces the former central area of Da Lat; along with many famous tourist attractions, places where accommodation and shopping services are concentrated... are favorable conditions for the ward to "plan" a new development strategy worthy of its stature", Mr. Thuy shared.

In Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, there are famous relics and scenic spots such as Xuan Huong Lake, Datanla Waterfall, Prenn Waterfall, Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area, Da Lat Railway Station Architectural Heritage, Da Lat College..., along with many facilities organizing art performance events, and creative art spaces. The whole ward has more than 1,410 tourist accommodation establishments; 16 tourist areas and spots; 8,978 individual business households and 1,833 enterprises... Chairman of the Ward People's Committee Nguyen Mau Ha affirmed: "This is the decisive factor for the growth of the ward. We identify tourism, services, and trade as the "pillars" of development, making important contributions to the socio-economic development of the ward".

The whole ward currently has more than 570 hectares of agricultural production, of which 237 hectares are high-tech agricultural production; the average agricultural production value reaches 630 million VND/ha. The agricultural economy is shifting towards modernization, adapting to climate change, linking value chains and developing agricultural tourism. Up to now, the locality has 18 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, which is also a potential and strength to promote the tourism-trade value chain.

As the central urban area of Lam Dong province, there is much room for comprehensive development in the coming time. The ward has identified the following goals: Continuously innovate and create; mobilize and effectively use resources for socio-economic development associated with environmental protection, ensuring national defense and security; take stability as the foundation for development, take the happiness and prosperity of the people as the goal to strive for; by 2030, build and develop Xuan Huong-Da Lat ward to be rich, civilized, modern, worthy of being the economic, political and administrative center of Lam Dong province.

Comrade Dang Duc Hiep, Member of the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Ward Party Committee emphasized: "Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat is oriented to become an urban area of tourism, services, and resorts; a smart, modern ward; with special characteristics in terms of climate, natural landscape, historical culture, and architectural heritage at national, regional, and international levels".

The ward continues to develop sustainable tourism with high growth rate; promote linkage and cooperation to develop tourism comprehensively according to planning, with focus and key points; preserve and best exploit heritage, scenic relics, and other relic systems; attract and develop new and attractive tourism products, gradually approaching world-class tourism products such as agricultural tourism, music tourism, adventure tourism, golf tourism, medical tourism, resort tourism, etc.

In addition, promote start-ups and innovation in the tourism sector; develop key tourism service infrastructure such as hotel systems, high-end resorts, entertainment industry infrastructure, and amusement parks; create a modern, convenient and attractive living environment for investors to work and live; coordinate the development of cultural industries associated with exploiting the value of membership in the UNESCO network of global creative cities in the field of music and the brand "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land" in the tourism sector.

According to comrade Dang Duc Hiep, the ward will mobilize resources to implement the development program, connecting the urban spaces of Cam Ly, Lam Vien, Xuan Huong, Xuan Truong, Lang Biang to promote the potential, economic value of tourism-services, agriculture and development space; promote the style of Da Lat people "gentle, elegant, hospitable" to build Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat into a cultural, friendly land, truly "a place to visit and a place worth living".
