According to Ms. T., for about a year now, she has noticed her belly getting bigger but thought it was due to being overweight and not exercising enough. In particular, in the last 5-6 months, her belly has gotten bigger so quickly that she can't go to work because she's embarrassed but still hasn't gone to the doctor. Her belly is so big and hard that it's worse than a case of carrying twins or triplets to the due date, the blood vessels on the skin of her belly are blue...
Two days before being admitted to the hospital, she began to have difficulty breathing when lying on her back, so she mustered up the courage to go to Tu Du Hospital for examination.
Here, the ultrasound results showed that Ms. T. had a very large abdominal tumor (407 x 254 x 390mm), exceeding the measuring capacity of the ultrasound machine, with many septa and increased blood vessels but no shadow image. The MRI results showed that the tumor was large and multi-lobed, with a risk of malignancy.
Immediately, the doctors consulted to plan the safest and fastest surgery possible. Because the risk of malignancy of this ovarian tumor was quite high while Ms. T. was young and had no family, the doctors had to consider the surgical method that could preserve reproductive function and was as safe as possible.
After 30 minutes of preparation, the doctors aspirated more than 16 liters of thin mucus; then carefully removed the adhesions and separated them to avoid damaging the adjacent organs, exposing the tumor as clearly as possible and then proceeded to cut the tumor.
The surgery took 240 minutes, the total weight of the tumor (including fluid and tumor tissue) was 20.5 kg.
On the morning of August 4, the surgical wound was dry, no fever, Ms. T. ate and drank normally, her stomach was sunken. She happily talked, her weight before surgery was 61kg, now she is only about 40kg.
